The lawsuits, which were lodged in July 2026, accuse Hochstein of negligence leading to significant complications from various cosmetic procedures carried out at his North Miami Beach Surgical Center.

Dr. Hochstein, who became well known through his marriage to reality TV star Lisa Hochstein, first established his surgical practice in 1998. According to the complaints, the patients underwent a range of operations including breast augmentations, tummy tucks, and liposuction. The allegations detail a disturbing pattern of post-operative complications that have reportedly caused long-lasting physical and emotional distress.
One case involves a 46-year-old woman who underwent multiple procedures, including a tummy tuck, liposuction, fat grafting, and a breast lift with implants. Despite being discharged on the same day as her surgery in May 2025, she claims to have developed exacerbating symptoms, such as abdominal tightness, pain, and swelling around her incision site. Seeking further medical intervention at a wound-care centre in California roughly three weeks later, it was discovered that she was suffering from fluid accumulation and necrotic tissue, which required extensive and painful treatment for scarring and deformity.
A second patient, who received breast augmentation on May 6, 2025, claims that she was not informed that a mesh material would be utilized off-label during the procedure, nor that its use lacked FDA approval for such surgeries. After the operation, she experienced complications, including a dislodged surgical drain and noticeable alterations in breast position. Although Dr. Hochstein noted the issues, the woman alleges no corrective surgery was undertaken, leading her to seek help from another clinic in Long Island, New York. Here, she reported persistent pain, droopiness, implant rippling, and asymmetry. Despite a revision surgery performed by a different surgeon in September 2025, she claims to endure long-term distortion and pain that render her hesitant to seek additional procedures.
The third individual cited in the lawsuits underwent both a breast augmentation and lift in March 2022, only to suffer from breast asymmetry, distortion, and a rare complication known as symmastia, where the breasts merge at the centre of the chest. After a follow-up procedure in April 2023, this patient reported severe pain and swelling. Fluid drainage was necessary on multiple occasions, leading to claims of lasting breast deformity and chronic discomfort.
The plaintiffs’ attorneys, John Morgan and Jack Cook, have expressed concern over the emotional toll these surgical complications have inflicted on the women, highlighting the profound trust that is expected in the surgeon-patient relationship. Morgan stated, “When injuries of this nature occur, particularly to sensitive areas of the body that are integral to a person’s identity, it compounds the emotional harm experienced. These patients have suffered immensely, and continue to do so.”
As investigations proceed, public attention remains focused on Dr. Hochstein and his practice. The ongoing legal battles underscore the risks associated with cosmetic surgery and the critical importance of informed consent and patient safety in the field.
