The global sensation BTS is set to electrify New York City as part of a city-wide initiative dubbed ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG NEW YORK’. This celebration leads up to their highly anticipated shows at MetLife Stadium on August 1 and 2, which are already sold out. In the days preceding these concerts, fans can partake in a variety of immersive experiences scattered across the city.
Beginning on July 24 and running until August 3, the BTS-themed event will encompass pop-up installations and portals for fans to engage with their favourite band. Building on the excitement from their recent performance during the FIFA World Cup final at the same stadium, BTS is set to bathe Manhattan and Brooklyn in their iconic red, with landmarks illuminated in the vibrant hue in celebration of their return.

Central to the festivities are numerous Manhattan landmarks, including Grand Central Terminal and Rockefeller Center, along with the Korean Cultural Center of New York (KCCNY). These venues will play host to special events, including social gatherings known as “ARMY Madang” – a nod to the communal atmosphere cherished by BTS fans. Here, attendees can craft custom T-shirts, embellish their BTS light sticks, and enjoy exclusive film screenings, along with an exhibition showcasing outfits worn by the band members.
An exciting feature of the event is a BTS-themed bus tour around the city, allowing fans to explore the sights while indulging in an immersive digital art experience at Arte Museum New York. K-pop enthusiasts can also venture to Marquee for a club night that promises to be a blast of music and entertainment. Fans will have the chance to participate in a “stamp rally,” where they collect stamps from various pop-up venues, enhancing their total experience while garnering rewards along the way.
Importantly, the event also puts a charitable spin on its celebrations. At the Bank of Hope Manhattan, fans can acquire exclusive merchandise and capture memorable moments in themed zones. For each check-in at different stamp rally locations, $1 will be donated to Hope Delivered, an initiative focused on imparting financial literacy to underserved communities.
Local eateries have embraced the BTS phenomenon too, with several restaurants and cafes offering limited-edition ARIRANG-themed menu items. Participants can head to popular spots like Van Leeuwen ice cream, Black Tap, Tous les Jours bakery, and Kim’s Kimbap to indulge in these special offerings, enriching the collaborative atmosphere throughout the city.
BTS’s ARIRANG World Tour commenced earlier this year in Seoul and includes numerous stops across North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia, extending through into 2027. The upcoming concerts in New Jersey will also mark the beginning of the tour’s second U.S. leg, which will include additional performances in cities such as Foxborough and Inglewood.
The tour is in support of BTS’s latest album, also named ‘ARIRANG’, which marks a significant return for the group after the members completed their mandatory military service. The album, released on March 20, made waves by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and quickly achieved the status of most-streamed K-pop album in Spotify history. BTS’s continued relevance in the music scene is underscored by the recent release of their second single, “NORMAL”, on July 17, further heightening the anticipation for their performances.
As excitement builds ahead of BTS’s two highly awaited shows, the city of New York gears up to showcase the extraordinary cultural impact and fan engagement that the group fosters. With numerous events lined up and charitable initiatives in place, ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG NEW YORK’ promises to be an unforgettable experience for fans eager to be part of the BTS phenomenon.
