Police in Long Beach have responded to a serious incident involving an armed suspect, following allegations of driving under the influence (DUI) and road rage that escalated dramatically on Wednesday morning. The situation unfolded around 10:00 AM when local authorities received reports concerning a man exhibiting erratic driving behaviour while aboard an ambulance transporting a patient.

According to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), the suspect, who was later identified as a man in his forties, fled from the scene after police attempted to intervene. Officers promptly initiated a pursuit, which culminated at an intersection near UCI Health in Los Alamitos, where the suspect allegedly brandished a machete.
As the situation developed, a substantial law enforcement presence was deployed to the scene, resulting in the lockdown of the nearby medical facility for several hours. This thorough response included establishing a perimeter and activating SWAT teams to handle the unpredictable scenario effectively.
