Authorities in Virginia have confirmed that the remains of a woman discovered in late March are connected to the recent murder of an 18-year-old man. Helen Marie Pullen Banks, a 56-year-old mother and grandmother, was identified after her unrecognisable remains were found on March 27 in the unincorporated area of Sparta. This is just days prior to the discovery of Jayden McComber’s body on March 31.

The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement earlier this month, detailing how Banks’ remains were located following a call from a visibly shaken witness who believed they had stumbled upon a body. McComber had been reported missing on the same day Banks’ body was found, and days later, his remains were discovered submerged in a pond near the Caroline County line.
