The intimate wedding took place at Mele Makani, a stunning venue situated on the North Shore of Kauai. Overlooking the ocean, the serene setting was complemented by the sound of local musician Pancho Graham playing the guitar. Speaking of the occasion, Gibson expressed, “Kauai is absolutely gorgeous and everything we ever dreamed of.”

Guests enjoyed dancing under a sparkling disco ball, indulging in delicious donuts—Gibson’s favourite dessert—as well as a simple wedding cake featuring a cute personalised dog topper representing their beloved pets.
The couple’s outfits reflected their styles and preferences; Gibson wore a suit from Ian Firestone, while Ruelas opted for an Evie Young Bridal gown that allowed for versatility on her wedding day. Ruelas shared that her experience of trying on her original wedding dress from three years prior revealed it no longer resonated with her, leading her to find the perfect alternative that she described as “mature, timeless and elegant.”
Planning for both ceremonies involved the expertise of Jessica Frabotta from Kauai Elopements for their Hawaiian wedding and Lizzy TePaske from El Cid for the Los Angeles celebration, ensuring that every detail fit the couple’s vision.
Meeting during spring break in 2011 at Pismo Beach, California, Gibson and Ruelas have shared over a decade of memories together. The engagement took place on October 10, 2022, at Pa’ako Beach in Maui, where Gibson proposed in a setting as idyllic as their wedding locations.
Looking towards the future, the couple intends to embark on a honeymoon trip to another tropical location, filled with relaxing vibes and enjoyable drinks. In their shared reflections, they conveyed their contentment with their current lifestyle, stating, “We’ve been together so long now; we don’t imagine much will change.”
