Chase McWhorter, a noted personality from the reality television series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” has entered into a plea agreement regarding a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. This decision follows his arrest during the Independence Day weekend in July 2025, as documented in court records obtained by PEOPLE.

The 31-year-old reality star acknowledged his actions by pleading guilty to a single charge of DUI, while prosecutors opted to dismiss additional charges for driving with a revoked or suspended licence, as well as possession of a controlled substance. Under the stipulated terms of the plea deal, McWhorter is required to pay a fine of $1,383, complete 48 hours of community service, and adhere to a year-long probation period.
McWhorter’s arrest occurred in Bluffdale, Utah, after law enforcement officials reported observing him struggling to maintain a steady speed. He was allegedly seen drifting out of his lane on several occasions, prompting the traffic stop. According to court documents, he confessed to having consumed alcohol and used cocaine prior to driving.
In a candid TikTok video released in December 2025, McWhorter addressed the public’s curiosity surrounding his arrest. Acknowledging the situation, he described it as “extremely short-sighted, selfish, and dangerous.” He openly regretted his decision to drive after consuming substances, highlighting the grave implications such choices can have.
He recounted the events leading to his arrest, explaining that he had been attending a pool party and initially intended to stay the entire day. However, after witnessing a fight, he opted to leave. “I should’ve Ubered,” he admitted. “But for some reason decided to drive home, and that decision alone kills people every single day, so I understand the severity of it.”
McWhorter expressed his embarrassment at being pulled over and arrested, remarking on how this incident has cast a negative light on his character and personal choices. “It’s been humiliating,” he reflected. “I’ve experienced so many lows on this app, as you guys know.”
In the video, McWhorter took responsibility for his actions, stating that it stems from “an inward problem that I need to work on.” He noted that his behaviour does not reflect the upbringing he received from his parents or the values instilled by those close to him. This introspection indicates a desire for personal growth following this public misstep.
The reality star also shared his experience with his former spouse, Miranda Hope, whom he was married to from 2017 to 2024. McWhorter revealed that he disclosed the arrest to Hope the following day, acknowledging that he has “been a disappointment” to her on several occasions. The couple shares two children, and McWhorter expressed his remorse for putting both his family and the community at risk.
Overall, McWhorter’s situation has resonated with many as he navigates the repercussions of his decisions. His public admission of guilt and the commitment to seek improvement underscore an important narrative on accountability and the consequences of driving under the influence. As he embarks on the terms of his plea deal, McWhorter’s journey may serve as a cautionary tale for others in similar circumstances.
