**Couple Pleads Guilty in Case of Toddler’s Death Linked to Neglect**

In a tragic case that has drawn significant attention, a couple from Nibley, Utah, has pleaded guilty to child abuse homicide following the death of their 18-month-old daughter, Ruby Marie Murray. The toddler’s unexpected passing occurred on March 19, 2025, and the investigation into her living conditions revealed severe neglect.

Mitchell Chesnut Murray, aged 31, and Carrie Marie Murray, aged 32, were initially charged in December 2025 with aggravated murder and aggravated child abuse. Reports state that the investigation was launched after Carrie, who is a registered nurse, contacted emergency services to inform them that Ruby was “beyond help.” Investigators noted that Carrie declined to perform life-saving measures on her daughter at the time of the emergency.
