The son of notable actress Priscilla Presley, Navarone Garibaldi Garcia, has taken to social media to address criticism surrounding his recent crowdfunding initiative. The 37-year-old musician launched a GoFundMe to launch an “affordable organic pizza” business from his driveway in Los Angeles, seeking $5,500 to fund the purchase of an industrial pizza oven.
Navarone’s venture, which he announced in July, has attracted a fair amount of negative feedback, particularly from social media users questioning why he does not seek financial assistance from his mother, a well-known figure in the entertainment industry and ex-wife of Elvis Presley. Critics have described him as “extremely privileged,” insinuating that he could easily access funds through his famous parent.

In his response to these attacks, Navarone took to Instagram to express his views, stating, “Haters gonna hate… and I’m sure I’ll have to explain this many more times to ignorant people who think I should ‘ask my mum’ or that I have money.” He further elaborated, stating that like anyone else, he has a range of expenses to settle, which limits his options.
Speaking about his reasons for not reaching out to his mother for financial support, he explained to TMZ, “She loves the idea but I can’t ask for money for every whimsical idea I have, or we both would be broke.” This statement emphasises his desire for independence while pursuing creative ventures.
Navarone emphasised that while he is seeking help from the community, he also intends to invest significantly in the project himself. He mentioned, “I’m offering free pizza to people that donate… and I’m putting in a lot of my own money to buy this oven. Just asking for help on the remaining bit that’s out of my budget.” His fundraising campaign includes an incentive for donors, promising a lifetime supply of free pizza for those who contribute.
Further addressing detractors in a series of Instagram Stories, he asserted his commitment to investing in his future and indicated that starting a restaurant often involves seeking external support, stating, “You think that every restaurant is started with one person? They take investors.” He also shared that his previous experiences working in various fields, including acting and touring with a rock band, hold value and contribute to his entrepreneurial aspirations.
In an effort to engage with critics, Navarone challenged negative perspectives by reinforcing his work experience and skills. He stated, “I’ve also acted in several films, as well as toured the country in a rock band. I’m sorry my jobs are more fun than yours.” His response highlighted the disconnect between public perception and the realities of his work.
On July 11, Navarone communicated optimism about the future of his pizza business, asserting that the quality of his food will ultimately speak for itself. He maintained that once he produces his first pizza, the naysayers will be convinced. In follow-up updates, he shared progress on the crowdfunding effort, celebrating donations and reinforcing his commitment to the cause.
“I feel like I have to explain economics to all these people that biasedly hate me,” he said in a video update. Despite some hostility, he reiterated his goal of trying to provide a service for the community while receiving assistance in return.
Navarone’s crowdfunding page makes it clear that he has long harboured ambitions of starting his own business but has faced challenges related to advertising and marketing. He remains hopeful that with financial backing from his GoFundMe campaign, he can finally realise that dream.
As he navigates the complexities of public opinion and entrepreneurship, Navarone remains focused on his passion for pizza, aiming to draw on both community support and personal investment to launch a venture that reflects his vision.
