Timothée Chalamet has shared his enthusiastic impressions of Anya Taylor-Joy, his co-star in the highly anticipated film “Dune: Part Three”. Speaking at a Global IMAX Fan Event in Los Angeles on July 8, Chalamet praised Taylor-Joy, saying, “She’s actually terrifying and amazing,” as fans eagerly awaited the film’s new trailer unveiling.

The event offered a glimpse into the much-anticipated conclusion of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s epic novels. Set to be released in cinemas on December 18, this film sees Chalamet reprise his role as Paul Atreides, while Taylor-Joy takes on the character of Alia Atreides, Paul’s sister. Their characters are both integral to the continuation of the story that has captivated audiences through its first two instalments.

Chalamet recalled the moment when Taylor-Joy first joined the production, describing it as “visually breathtaking”. He explained that he didn’t have substantial scenes with her in “Dune: Part Two”, released in 2024, and noted, “Anya is something special in this movie.” This compelling praise speaks volumes about Taylor-Joy’s performance and presence throughout the film.
In “Dune: Part Two”, Taylor-Joy made a brief appearance through a vision sequence, but it was her deeper involvement in the third film that has excited both fans and cast members alike. As Alia, the daughter of Lady Jessica, played by Rebecca Ferguson, and the late Duke Leto, played by Oscar Isaac in the first film, Taylor-Joy’s role is expected to be pivotal as the storyline unfolds.
Discussing the setting of the desert planet Arrakis, Chalamet highlighted the exceptional direction from Villeneuve alongside the stunning cinematography by Linus Sandgren. He reiterated, “Anya is unbelievable in this movie,” further asserting that his earlier comments were not exaggerated media hype. The chemistry and dynamic between the characters promise to add depth to the epic narrative.
In addition to Chalamet and Taylor-Joy, “Dune: Part Three” sees the return of fan favourites, including Zendaya as Chani and Javier Bardem as Stilgar. New to this chapter is Robert Pattinson, who joins the cast as Scytale, a character with a significant role. Chalamet expressed his admiration for Pattinson, noting their previous collaboration in the historical drama “The King”, and stating that he was well aware of Pattinson’s talents.
As the story progresses, Chalamet hinted at the complex journey of Paul Atreides as he navigates his role as an emperor. “The clues are in the book,” he teased, revealing that while the first two films adapted Herbert’s original 1965 novel, the finale will incorporate elements from “Dune Messiah”, the sequel released in 1969.
Chalamet further remarked on the nuances of the narratives crafted by both Herbert and Villeneuve, suggesting a cautionary tale about charismatic leaders. “I think the proof is in the pudding. It had little to do with me,” he said, with Villeneuve humorously responding, “The spice pudding,” referencing the vital resource that drives much of the action in the series.
As fans await the final release, the excitement for “Dune: Part Three” continues to build. The film promises to offer a visually stunning and narratively rich conclusion to the celebrated trilogy, making it one of the most awaited cinematic events of the year. With a powerhouse cast and visionary direction, expectations are high for this cinematic masterpiece.
