Trisha Paytas, the social media personality and influencer, has opened up about her transformative experience with GLP-1 medication, shedding light on its positive effects on her health and well-being. In a candid TikTok video shared on 8 July, the 38-year-old shared her personal journey, addressing some prevalent misconceptions surrounding the use of such medications for weight loss.

Paytas, who is a mother to three children, stated that she initially hesitated before starting the treatment. However, after doing her research and consulting with healthcare professionals, she decided to begin a course of GLP-1 therapy, which involves weekly injections of medication designed to assist with weight management by promoting satiety. Since commencing the treatment on 11 May, she reported losing 30 pounds within the first two months, a significant milestone for someone who described struggling with weight throughout her life.

In her TikTok post, Paytas emphasised that using GLP-1 medication is not an act of “cheating” or taking the “easy way out.” She clarified that for many individuals, this medication serves as necessary healthcare. “It’s literally medicine for people who need it,” she stated. While acknowledging the potential for misuse, she maintained that for those genuinely seeking to improve their health, GLP-1 therapy can provide essential support.
Paytas highlighted notable improvements in her physical and mental health since beginning the medication. She mentioned that not only did she shed pounds, but she also experienced significant relief from other health issues, including joint inflammation. “I could barely even stand at a park not more than a year ago when I was postpartum with my son,” she reflected. With the newfound energy, she has taken up Pilates, which has helped with her posture and core strength, enabling her to engage more actively with her children.
Contrary to some beliefs that GLP-1 medications might suppress all food cravings, Paytas clarified her experience, stating that while her appetite for certain processed foods and sugars had diminished, she still enjoys her favourite meals such as pasta and cheese. She elaborated, “You just don’t crave the fried food as much,” reinforcing that her journey does not involve sacrificing all the enjoyable aspects of food.
In her message to her followers, Paytas stressed that each person’s health journey is unique and underscored the importance of consulting a medical professional before starting any treatment. “Whatever your health goals are, please consult a doctor before going on a GLP-1,” she urged. This statement reflects not only her commitment to responsible health practices but also her desire to dispel any negative stigma associated with medical interventions for weight loss.
Earlier in her journey, Paytas had shared with PEOPLE the realisation that her eating habits had to change, especially after experiencing significant weight gain following her pregnancies. With an excess of 80 pounds attributed to back-to-back childbirths, she committed to losing weight and set herself a six-month target to achieve this naturally. However, she ultimately sought additional support through Ro, a direct-to-patient healthcare company, which has significantly aided her in her efforts.
The term GLP-1 refers to glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, a class of medications that has gained popularity for their effectiveness in weight management. Brands like Ozempic and Mounjaro fall under this category, and they work in the brain to promote feelings of fullness, which can encourage healthier eating behaviours. Paytas is currently using Zepbound, a specific GLP-1 medication that has been described by her as “nothing short of miraculous.”
As she continues her journey, the influencer is adamant about the importance of mental health and self-acceptance. Paytas stated, “It was more about how I felt,” emphasising that an improved sense of well-being was her true motivation rather than merely the numbers on a scale. Through her openness, she hopes to inspire others who may be in a similar situation to seek the support they need and to understand the value of prioritising one’s health.
In a time when many are navigating their personal wellness struggles, Trisha Paytas’ story provides a glimpse into how modern medicine can play a role in transforming lives. Her perspective serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding and compassion in discussions about health, weight, and the various paths individuals may take to achieve their goals.
