Award-winning TikTok chef Kevin Ashton has tied the knot with Katie Coombs in a heartfelt ceremony held on 4th July at Las Cascadas in Reno, Nevada. The couple, who both share a significant history of prior marriages and health challenges, chose to celebrate their union in an informal setting that embraced nature and personal touches.

The wedding drew in around 140 guests, who enjoyed the couple’s vision of a laid-back event. Coombs, 53, explained their desire for a “relaxed vibe,” which they achieved by selecting a picturesque venue featuring waterfalls and lush foliage. “It was a fantastic experience to plan this occasion without any stress, and our shared ideas made everything quite straightforward,” she remarked.
Central to their festivities was a unique food experience, featuring food trucks rather than traditional catering. Slater’s Ding-a-Wing was on hand to serve an array of chicken wings, shrimp, tater tots, onion rings, and similar fare, which Ashton described with a sense of humour, remarking, “We joke that we wanted handi-wipes at our wedding, and so chicken wings had to be on the menu!” Desserts were also a highlight, with Handel’s supplying ice cream sundaes for guests throughout the evening.
When it came to styling, the couple opted for an eclectic colour scheme inspired by a vibrant shirt chosen by Ashton. Coombs elaborated on their aesthetic choices, stating, “We envisioned the event as casually elegant, steering clear of anything too formal.”
A touching aspect of the ceremony involved the participation of their children, who walked them down the aisle. Coombs’ childhood friend, local news anchor Kim Burrows, officiated the event, adding a personal touch to the proceedings. Coombs was accompanied by her two sons, two daughters, and a daughter-in-law, while Ashton had his two daughters by his side. A particularly emotional moment occurred when Coombs’s stepfather, nearly 91 years old, handed her over to Ashton after walking them down the aisle, marking a significant overcoming of health struggles faced in the past year.
The couple chose specific acoustic music for their procession. They flew in guitarist Jared Fisher to perform songs of personal relevance: Ashton’s choice was the Grateful Dead’s “If I Had the World to Give,” while Coombs favoured Alex Warren’s “Ordinary.” In a surprise for Ashton, Coombs also arranged for Fisher to perform Chicago’s “Saturday in the Park,” which resonated with the day being a national holiday.
For her wedding dress, Coombs selected a number from Dillard’s which she had reworked to align with her vision for understated elegance. Their home-spun vows expressed gratitude towards their children for their love and support, cementing a family-focused atmosphere throughout the event.
The couple’s journey began on Christmas Eve in 2024. Ashton shared a personal update on Facebook that struck a chord with Coombs, and after messaging him, they discovered their shared experiences and connection. Despite each having prior health challenges, with Ashton once diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma, they fell in love unexpectedly.
Coombs remarked that neither party was actively seeking a serious relationship at the time, yet there was an undeniable attraction. “From our first coffee date, it felt as though we could end up married,” she said, affectionately likening herself to Travis Kelce for taking the initiative.
Following their engagement in January 2026 during a trip to Northstar, California, the couple has anticipated a bright future together. They are eager to continue building a stable and loving home, enriched with respect and peace, as they navigate life with a shared affection for their two rescue cats.
Plans for their honeymoon are already in motion, as the couple looks forward to spending time aboard a Caribbean cruise in September, which will also serve as a celebration of Ashton’s parents’ 60th wedding anniversary. They are dedicated to teaching their children the true meaning of love and commitment, sustained even amidst health adversities.
The joy and warmth of Ashton and Coombs’ wedding day reflect the deep connection they share, indicating that their love story remains just as compelling off-screen as it is on TikTok. With a commitment to living life to the fullest, the couple is ready to embrace the next chapter together, fostering both adventure and love.
