Jennifer Holland, known for her role as Emilia Harcourt in the DC Universe, remains optimistic about her character’s future, despite not having any confirmed updates. During an event for Milk-Bone’s partnership with Supergirl in Los Angeles, Holland expressed her unwavering commitment to the character while admitting she does not know when or where Harcourt will reappear in the expanding DC Studios landscape.

Holland, who is 38 years old, first gained recognition for her portrayal of Harcourt in 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Since then, the character has become a vital part of the DC Universe, particularly noted for her role in HBO Max’s Peacemaker, where she transitioned from a rigid A.R.G.U.S. agent to a close ally of the titular character, Christopher Smith. Although the future of Peacemaker remains uncertain following its second season finale in October 2025, Holland is prepared for any opportunity to dive back into her iconic role.

When asked about her character’s potential return, Holland remarked, “I know as much as everyone else knows about where we’re gonna see Harcourt again.” This lack of clarity has not dampened her enthusiasm, as she continues to keep herself in shape in anticipation of the next mission. “I am keeping my arms as toned as possible in the off time, just in case,” she added with a laugh. Her readiness reflects a broader enthusiasm for participating in the DC franchise.
Holland’s love for the DC Universe goes beyond her personal involvement; she recognises the significant impact the franchise has on its fans. “It’s amazing to see how many people are so touched by the things that they make,” she stated. Fans have cherished these characters for years, and Holland appreciates the joy her portrayal brings to those who have followed the comics for much of their lives. “Of course, you don’t make everyone happy, but you do make so many people really happy because they get to see the live-action version of this thing that they’ve been attached to for their whole lives,” she reflected.
While at the Milk-Bone event, Holland was without her beloved dogs, who are currently residing in Atlanta while her husband, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and director of the upcoming Superman sequel, works on location. “I would have loved to bring them,” she lamented, noting that they are in Atlanta during the filming of Man of Tomorrow.
Holland is particularly excited about her dog Ozu, who not only serves as her pet but also as the physical reference for Krypto, Superman’s canine companion, featured in the newly released Superman and Supergirl. “Our dog, Ozu, is the physical reference for Krypto,” Holland explained, highlighting his distinctive feature of having one ear that often sticks up.
The playful interactions between Ozu and his owners have also inspired elements of Krypto’s character. “He was a pretty bad boy when we first got him,” Holland recalled, mentioning how Ozu would playfully nip at their ankles. “All the stuff where you see Krypto biting Superman’s ankles is an actual video reference that James got of our dog fighting our ankles as we’re walking. He thought they were little toys on the ground,” she laughed.
As she continues to await news regarding her future as Harcourt, Holland’s enthusiasm for her role and her dedication to the character remain palpable. With the ongoing developments within the DC Universe and her fervent commitment to her craft, fans can find solace in the fact that Holland is ready and eager for whatever may come next.
Peacemaker is presently available for streaming on HBO Max, while Supergirl is now showing in theatres. With Holland firmly planted in the vibrant and dynamic world of DC, both her character and her voice promise to continue captivating audiences.
