Katherine Heigl, renowned for her role in the long-running medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” has made the difficult decision to sell her picturesque Utah residence. Heigl and her husband, country musician Josh Kelley, are putting their expansive 25-acre property on the market for £10.6 million, as they seek to downsize to a charming blue Victorian farmhouse in their locality.

The couple acquired the land in 2007 for £1 million and constructed their dream home two years later. Spanning over 8,000 square feet, the property is located in Oakley, just 15 miles from the popular ski destination of Park City. Heigl and Kelley have called this stunning estate home for nearly two decades, raising their three children, Nancy Leigh “Naleigh” Mi-Eun, 17, Adalaide Marie Hope, 14, and Joshua Bishop, 9, within its walls.

Heigl explained to the Wall Street Journal that parting ways with the home is bittersweet. “It’s been very hard to decide to let it go. I’m a real sort of homebody and creature of habit,” she shared, highlighting the emotional weight of the decision. However, the couple’s growing children also prompted the move, as Heigl reflected, “When they’re all gone—slaying their own dragons and living their lives—it’s just you and me in this giant house on this giant land.”
Over the years, Heigl and Kelley have invested significant time and effort into personalising the property to suit their tastes and interests. Among the unique spaces on the estate is an art studio housed in a standalone building, where Heigl indulges her passion for creativity. Additionally, the home theatre showcases her extensive yarn collection, a testament to her fondness for crafts.
Adding to its charm is a custom-built ‘listening shack’, which Kelley renovated using reclaimed oak over 200 years old. This snug retreat is insulated and heated, making it an ideal venue for gatherings with friends and family. Heigl fondly reminisced about the joy of personalising their home, stating, “That was the fun part of getting older, growing up, and understanding who you are.”
The interiors of the property feature striking design elements, including a standout steel fireplace that rises a remarkable 30 feet in the great room. The kitchen boasts modern conveniences, such as a hidden pantry and a sizeable island perfect for family gatherings or entertaining guests. The primary suite offers a sitting area, a walk-in closet, and a luxurious freestanding bathtub, catering to comfort and relaxation.
The outdoor amenities also add to the allure of this mountain retreat. A heated swimming pool overlooks the stunning landscape, while expansive terraces provide plenty of seating space for enjoying the fresh air and breathtaking views. A fire pit stands ready for cosy evenings under the stars, further enhancing the outdoor experience.
Heigl and Kelley’s decision to relocate to a nearby Victorian farmhouse signals a new chapter in their lives as they navigate the transition of their children growing up and moving on. Having previously divided their time between Utah and Los Angeles, the couple made Utah their primary residence in 2012. They purchased their new farmhouse last year with the intention of restoring it, ensuring it will become a nurturing space for their family as they embark on this next adventure.
As the couple prepares to leave behind their beloved home, Heigl expressed gratitude for the memories created there. The sale of their property is not just a financial move but a heartfelt farewell to a place filled with family milestones and cherished experiences. With this transition, the family hopes to embrace the future while honouring the past.
