Maxence was last seen on Sunday, June 28, and is now the focus of an extensive search effort. The police have called on the public to assist in locating both the infant and his mother, as they work with the California Highway Patrol to coordinate the search.

Marina Kazakova, aged 42, is believed to have unlawfully taken Maxence after not returning him to his father on June 30, 2026. Law enforcement officials have expressed concern for the child’s safety, alleging that Kazakova may have fled to an undisclosed location with her son.
Description details for both Maxence and his mother have been made available to the public. The infant is described as having a bald head, blue eyes, and weighing approximately 16 pounds. Kazakova stands at around 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 128 pounds, has brown hair, and brown eyes. At the time of her last sighting, she was reportedly wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
The police are particularly interested in locating a white 2016 Mazda CX-5 SUV, which Kazakova is thought to be driving. The vehicle bears California licence plate number 7SJW989 and was last seen in the Kern County area.
Local authorities are urging anyone who might have seen either Maxence or Kazakova to come forward and share any information. They emphasise the importance of contacting 911 immediately if either of them is spotted, as time is critical in situations involving potential abduction.
The issuance of the AMBER Alert reflects the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating the case. AMBER Alerts are designed to swiftly disseminate information about abducted children, mobilising the community and regional law enforcement agencies for assistance.
Family and friends of the mother and child have expressed their concerns, hoping for a safe resolution to the situation. The case highlights ongoing challenges in custody disputes and the potential for conflict, raising questions about the protective measures in place for vulnerable children in similar circumstances.
As the search continues, the Hayward Police Department remains committed to locating Maxence and ensuring his safe return. Community members are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any sightings or information that could aid in the recovery of the child.
