In recent legal developments, Tate Paul has filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against his ex-wife, Taylor Frankie Paul. The couple, who were married from 2016 to 2022, share two children, Ocean, age six, and Indy, age eight. Taylor also has a two-year-old son, Ever, with her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. The court documents, which surfaced on June 30, reveal that Tate seeks to modify the terms of their divorce and custody agreement alongside the restraining order.

This latest move comes as Taylor’s mother, Liann May, has taken to social media to express her support for her daughter. In an Instagram post, she shared a heartfelt image of Taylor with her three children, insisting that both Tate and Mortensen are fully aware of Taylor’s capabilities as a devoted mother. Liann stated, “Both dads know damn right that Taylor’s a GREAT mother! Trying to keep them away from her is only going to hurt my grandbabies!”
As tensions escalate between Taylor and her ex-partners, a source revealed that Taylor had voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation facility on the advice of her doctor. Although she has since exited the facility, the source emphasised her dedication to recovery and the well-being of her children. “She’s committed to getting better,” the source noted, while another individual close to Taylor highlighted the importance of support from those around her.

The situation has been complicated by recent investigations. Reports indicate that police in Bluffdale, Utah, are looking into whether Taylor violated a restraining order against Mortensen, with whom she had a tumultuous relationship. In February 2023, Taylor was arrested on charges stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident, which included allegations of her throwing objects during an altercation. Ultimately, she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault but will see that charge dismissed if she meets specific conditions.
The legal complications did not end there. Following the altercations, Mortensen sought a protective order against Taylor, prompting her to reciprocate with a similar request shortly afterward. In April, prosecutors decided not to pursue charges against Taylor, and by the end of that month, a judge approved mutual protective orders valid for three years. As part of this legal arrangement, custody of Ever was granted to Mortensen, with Taylor receiving restricted visitation rights.

However, there have been recent adjustments to the custody arrangement. A judge lifted the mandatory supervision requirement for Taylor’s time with Ever earlier in June and allowed her specific visitation rights during the week without overnight stays, as well as alternating weekends. This ruling reinforced Mortensen’s position as the “custodial parent” during holidays.
In a separate comment during a livestream on June 3, Tate described his co-parenting dynamic with Taylor as mostly peaceful until recent complications arose, hinting at the distressing times they are both navigating. Meanwhile, a source close to Taylor insisted that despite the challenges, her commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with Tate remains strong.
The ongoing saga highlights the difficult nature of co-parenting amidst legal disputes. As both parents grapple with their responsibilities and the well-being of their children, the community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that prioritises the happiness and stability of the children involved.
As this situation continues to develop, many are hopeful that Cooperating for the sake of their children will remain at the forefront of Taylor and Tate’s priorities.
