Wahlburgers, the fast-casual dining chain co-owned by the Wahlberg brothers, has announced the closure of its St. Charles, Illinois location. The restaurant shared the news through a Facebook post on June 29, coinciding with the end of its lease. The closure comes amidst ongoing operational challenges that have afflicted the restaurant industry.

In their Facebook announcement, the Wahlburgers team expressed regret over the permanent closure, stating, “It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce Wahlburgers St. Charles will be permanently closing our doors on June 29, 2026 as our current lease at this location has come to an end.” The post also conveyed thanks to loyal patrons, promising further information on a new location in the near future.
Donnie Wahlberg, one of the co-owners and known for his role in the television series *Blue Bloods*, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to the closing venue. Addressing his fan base, known as Blockheads, Wahlberg affirmed the sense of loss while also hinting at a more promising future. “As one door closes, another always opens,” he wrote.
While acknowledging the challenges faced since the second COVID-19 shutdown, Wahlberg highlighted the restaurant’s efforts to remain operational. He stated, “We’ve done our best to keep it going…but fought the fight anyway.” His message included a teaser about a new location dubbed “Clubhouse 2.0,” promising to provide details soon.
The St. Charles restaurant was notable for featuring the dining table used by the Regan family in *Blue Bloods*, a highlight that drew fans to the venue. For a time, diners had the unique opportunity to enjoy meals at this iconic prop, with proceeds from those meals benefiting the Detectives’ Endowment Association’s Widows’ and Children’s Fund and a local cancer centre.
According to Ed French, one of the three franchise owners along with the Wahlbergs, economic pressures played a significant role in the decision to close the St. Charles location. Increased food and fuel costs, combined with unsuccessful attempts to negotiate a rent reduction, contributed to diminishing profits. French stated, “It was sure a sad day,” but assured that there was no ill-will with the landlord following the lease break.
The closing of the St. Charles Wahlburgers isn’t merely a loss; it also marks a transition. French confirmed the intention to open a new restaurant in the Chicago suburb, although details regarding its location and timeline remain unclear. There are hopes that the new venue may feature outdoor seating and a performance stage, themed around the ‘Blockheads’ fan following.
Amidst this transition, the owners are taking the time to reflect on the memories created at the St. Charles site. Wahlberg expressed gratitude towards every customer and employee who contributed to the restaurant’s vibrant atmosphere. “I cannot thank you enough,” he told his followers, indicating an eagerness to continue building connections in the new establishment.
As the stars align for a fresh beginning with Clubhouse 2.0, both Wahlberg and the franchise team remain optimistic. With plans for a new chapter on the horizon, the St. Charles closure symbolises not just an ending, but also the potential for renewed experiences that the community can look forward to in the near future.
