Feek reflected on the delay in a poignant Substack post, expressing a sense of needing the extra time to mentally prepare for what lay ahead for both Indiana and the family. He admitted that, while he felt the delay was beneficial for him, it was unclear if Indiana shared that sentiment.
Following the surgery on Thursday morning, Feek shared a moving account of his first moments with Indiana in the recovery room. He described how, upon hearing her parents’ voices, tears began to cascade down her cheeks. This emotional moment set off a wave of tears from both Rory and Rebecca, Indiana’s stepmother. “Hers because she’s frightened and in pain, and not fully understanding what’s happening,” Feek wrote, adding that it was difficult for them as parents to witness their daughter in distress.
