“Dexter ”Fan Allegedly Dismembered 2 Men Before Hiding Their Remains in the Woods

In a chilling case emerging from a homeless shelter in Cornwall, a 40-year-old man, James Desborough, faces serious allegations of murdering and dismembering two fellow residents. The incidents reportedly occurred between April and July of 2025 at Sandy Lodge in Newquay, a facility that offers support for individuals experiencing homelessness or addiction.

Prosecutor Ahmed Hossain KC presented the claims at Winchester Crown Court on June 24, stating that the victims were 57-year-old Claudio Aquilino and 43-year-old Daniel Coleman. According to Hossain, Desborough made a remark to another shelter resident, expressing that he “particularly enjoyed the dismemberment scenes” featured in the television series “Dexter,” which centres around a forensic expert who moonlights as a serial killer. This observation has been cited as significant, given the nature of the crimes.

Hossain detailed the grim discovery made by police, who retrieved approximately 1,900 charred bone fragments believed to originate from Aquilino’s remains in Paramoor Woods. This location is roughly 15 miles from Sandy Lodge, where both victims and Desborough resided. Further inquiries led investigators to uncover the dismembered body parts of Coleman, including his legs and torso, buried in a nearby shallow grave.

“The evidence suggests that he killed them,” Hossain asserted, describing the extent of the alleged crimes. He elaborated that Desborough not only dismembered the bodies but also attempted to destroy and conceal them to hide his actions. The prosecutor highlighted that Desborough allegedly took financial advantage of both Aquilino and Coleman after their deaths by accessing their bank accounts and spending their money.

Witness accounts indicate that Aquilino was alive at a local pub on April 17, 2025, and was last seen the following day. Hossain noted a troubling shift in Aquilino’s communication with his family shortly thereafter, where consistent contact ceased. Just prior to Aquilino’s last sighting, Desborough left Sandy Lodge, indicating a potential premeditated situation leading to the murder.

The prosecution also drew attention to discrepancies in Aquilino’s spending habits following April 18, suggesting foul play. Evidence allegedly places Aquilino’s bank card and mobile SIM card within Desborough’s cabin at Paramoor Woods, further implicating him in the crime.

Regarding Coleman, Hossain described his relationship with Hannah Cresswell as “turbulent,” noting that he and Cresswell also resided in Sandy Lodge until March 7. The prosecutor suggested that Coleman discovered a romantic involvement between Desborough and Cresswell, which reportedly strained their relationship. Coleman was last observed alive on June 3, 2025, engaging in drinking activities with Desborough.

Surveillance data indicated that after Coleman’s last sighting, the patterns of his bank transactions changed dramatically, similar to the financial activity seen in Aquilino’s accounts post-disappearance. Hossain inferred that Coleman likely met his end in the hours following their last outing.

Desborough has admitted to preventing the lawful burial of the two men’s remains but contests the murder allegations. This case has sparked significant media attention, given both its gruesome details and the connections to a popular crime drama.
