On June 11, the day of the incident, Wilson was checking on her son as he prepared for his graduation. “I went into his room,” Wilson recounted. “He had his headphones on and his TV was playing, just as he did every day. I called his name twice, but there was no response. When I turned on the light, I realised that something was terribly wrong.” In a desperate attempt to rouse him, she tried calling his name again while checking for any sign of life.
Concerned, Dominic’s sister, Sierra, then checked for his pulse. Unable to get through to emergency services initially due to a busy line, the family persisted until they could reach a dispatcher.
