A newlywed couple’s dream honeymoon turned into a tragic disaster when their helicopter crashed in Georgia shortly after their wedding. Jesni Fiji is mourning the loss of her husband, Dave, who was killed in the crash on May 29. Jesni, speaking about her late husband, described him as “beautiful inside and out,” a reflection of the special bond they shared. The helicopter, a Robinson R66, took off shortly after the wedding but crashed just minutes into the flight, resulting in the deaths of Dave, who was 25, and the pilot, Nikhil Nargundkar, aged 28. Jesni, injured in the crash, was left waiting for hours in a remote, wooded area. Emergency responders were alerted around 10:35 PM, but they struggled to reach the site due to difficult terrain.
Dave’s family was left in shock when they learned through media reports about the crash that resulted in fatalities. They experienced confusion and heartbreak as they searched for answers regarding Dave’s fate. Official confirmation that he had not survived the incident was a bitter blow for the family, who were still processing the joy of the couple’s recent wedding.

The helicopter was airborne for less than four minutes before the crash occurred. A concerned neighbour had heard the aircraft take off but soon detected a troubling silence, prompting them to contact emergency services. The crash site was located a mere two miles from the wedding venue but deep within the woods, complicating rescue efforts. Rescuers faced numerous challenges, including the need to cut through trees, which delayed their access to the crash area for more than five hours.
Jesni’s ordeal intensified when she woke up after the crash to find Dave lying on her chest. Despite a bloodstain on his shirt, she initially thought he may have survived, only to discover the heartbreaking truth about his fate. It is believed that he may have suffered severe injuries, possibly a broken neck, during the crash.
