Jinger Duggar Vuolo, known for her role as a reality television star and mother of three, has candidly discussed her challenges with body image both during and after her pregnancies. The 29-year-old shared these insights through her Instagram Stories, connecting with her followers on topics that resonate with many parents.
Currently a mother to three children – daughters Felicity, aged seven, and Evangeline, aged four, as well as her son Finnegan, born in March 2025 – Jinger acknowledged that her struggles with body image intensified during the transformative phases of pregnancy and postpartum. Responding to a follower’s inquiry about coping with these feelings, she reflected on her personal journey and the difficulties she has faced.

“Yes, I’ve struggled with body image quite a bit, and honestly, pregnancy and postpartum have been some of the harder seasons for me in that area,” Jinger revealed. Despite her challenges, she expressed gratitude for the experience of motherhood, stating, “I would never trade it for the world because bringing these sweet babies into the world is always so worth it in the end.”
During her pregnancies, Jinger attempted to maintain a balanced diet while recognising that self-compassion is essential during these life-changing times. “I try to do my best to eat healthy during pregnancy when I can, but I’ve also learned to give myself grace during those seasons,” she explained.
Physical activity also plays a significant role in her postpartum recovery. Jinger reported that engaging in simple exercises, such as taking walks with her baby in a stroller, contributes positively to her mental and physical well-being. “Little things like that help me feel stronger physically and mentally,” she added.
In addition to her experiences with body image, Jinger has also been open about her battle with postpartum depression, particularly after the birth of her second child, Evangeline. In an episode of The Jeremy & Jinger Podcast aired in April 2025, she shared her struggles and how she connected her mental health issues to breastfeeding.
“There was a point when I was in a dark hole and I didn’t know what to do,” Jinger remarked, recalling her difficult experience after Evangeline’s birth. It was through conversations with friends that she began to consider the possibility that nursing was affecting her emotional state.
When she made the decision to stop nursing Evangeline, Jinger reported a noticeable shift in her mental health, describing it as a liberation from the gloom she had been experiencing. “Once I made that connection and stopped nursing, I just felt like I came out of this dark cloud,” she shared.
Reflecting on her journey, Jinger acknowledged the fear that sometimes returns during pregnancy, causing her to worry about relapsing into a dark place. “Even with this pregnancy, there’s a certain fear that comes back,” she confided, revealing her determination to confront such feelings and not revert to her past struggles.
Jinger’s openness about her body image and mental health journey has resonated with many of her followers, who find encouragement in her honesty. She serves as a relatable figure, breaking the stigma surrounding postpartum issues and reminding parents that seeking help and practising self-care is essential.
As Jinger continues to navigate the challenges of motherhood, she remains committed to sharing her experiences in the hope of supporting others facing similar trials. Her willingness to address these topics on social media reflects a broader trend of increasing awareness around mental health, particularly in the context of the significant changes that accompany parenthood. With each shared story, she emphasises the importance of understanding one’s mental health journey and finding strength in vulnerability.
