A 72-year-old man from Rhode Island has been accused of inappropriately touching children in a lazy river at a Florida hotel near Walt Disney World resort. William Francis Chatel was arrested and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim under 12 years of age following an incident at the Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort in Orlando. The arrest came after a young girl swimming in the lazy river reported feeling something touch her, which led her to see an elderly man touching her lower back and right side, as detailed in an Orange County Sheriff’s Office affidavit.

The identity and age of the girl involved were not revealed in the affidavit, but she recounted trying to avoid the man after feeling his touch. The following day, the same man was spotted again by the girl in the lazy river, prompting her to avoid him once more. However, he allegedly approached her, leading to an upsetting encounter where he reportedly grabbed and tickled her buttocks underwater. Subsequently, the girl tearfully informed her mother about the incident, which led to the involvement of law enforcement at the resort.
Upon response from deputies, Chatel was found by authorities sitting in a hot tub at the resort.
