Leila Roker, daughter of Today show meteorologist Al Roker, has embraced a dual celebration of love, marrying her partner Sylvain Gricourt in two separate ceremonies held in both France and New Jersey last month. The couple’s journey started back in 2018 when they crossed paths in a Parisian bar, sparking a relationship that would culminate in their wedding.

The initial ceremony took place in Paris on May 9, where they exchanged vows in a civil service before moving on to a church ceremony at Église Saint-Odile, characterised by its intimate atmosphere. Following this, a garden reception was hosted at the Le Manoir de Gressy Hotel. Leila wore a stunning Amsale Mirai gown accessorised with a cropped blazer for this significant occasion.

A mere two weeks later, the couple celebrated their union again in New Jersey, in what Leila described as a “true homecoming.” This ceremony, officiated by Reverend Brenda Husson—who had baptised Leila as a baby—carried profound personal significance. The bride donned a Mark Ingram-designed gown featuring a dropped waist and a French lace bolero, the latter reflecting Sylvain’s heritage and their shared life in France.
During the New Jersey vows, Leila incorporated a treasured family heirloom into her outfit. Her “something old” was a pearl bracelet that had been a wedding gift from Al Roker to her mother, Deborah Roberts, further deepening the emotional resonance of the day. Gricourt, who recited his vows in both English and French, fondly reminisced about their fortuitous meeting in Paris, remarking on the unexpected yet natural connection they shared.
When asked about their decision to hold ceremonies in both locations, Leila expressed that the dual celebrations symbolised the blending of her two homes. “Across both ceremonies, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy,” she stated, recognising the unique significance of combining her life in America with her life in France. “There was something incredibly meaningful about having a ‘home’ in two places.”
Sylvain reflected on the moment he watched Leila walk down the aisle in New Jersey, noting how it felt remarkably powerful, even as he navigated a different cultural context. He expressed that this moment made their union feel entirely real, solidifying their journey over the previous 14 months.
Following their Parisian nuptials, Al Roker shared his pride during a broadcast of the Today show, where he revealed he had just returned from Europe after attending his daughter’s wedding. His excitement was palpable as he mentioned the joy of witnessing such a significant moment in Leila’s life.
Leila’s mother, Deborah Roberts, had previously mentioned the couple’s plans to host two ceremonies when she appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark. She shared that a small French ceremony was essential, given their life in Paris, while also expressing her desire for a celebration back in the U.S.
Reflecting on their unique wedding journey, Leila expressed on Instagram that they celebrated their love twice, highlighting how their shared story unfolded across two countries and cultures. “Every detail felt like it honoured the life we’ve built together,” she wrote, celebrating the coming together of their families and friends amidst what once seemed like barriers of language and geography.
Leila and Sylvain announced their engagement in March 2025, revealing how their relationship had blossomed since Leila first made the move to Paris for her studies. Sharing the excitement of their engagement, Al Roker expressed his joy for the couple’s future together as they planned their lives and their marriage.
As their love story continues to unfold, Leila Roker and Sylvain Gricourt’s journey serves as a reminder that love knows no borders, transcending oceans and cultures to create a beautiful tapestry woven from their shared experiences and commitments.
