Disney Unveils Live-Action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Trailer Reimagining Memorable Scenes

Disney has once again brought a beloved classic to life with a live-action remake of ‘Lilo & Stitch’. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the film showcases the colourful adventures of the mischievous blue alien, Stitch, amidst the tropical setting of Hawaii’s Kauai island.
The heartwarming tale follows Stitch’s transformation from a would-be troublemaker to an endearing character, all thanks to his friendship with the lovable Lilo, portrayed by Maia Kealoha in the upcoming movie. The recently released trailer gives fans a glimpse of the ensemble cast, including Sydney Agudong as Lilo’s sister and guardian Nani, Kaipo Dudoit as Nani’s friend David, and Courtney B. Vance as social worker Cobra Bubbles.
Chris Sanders, the original director of the 2002 animated version of ‘Lilo & Stitch’, also returns to lend his voice to the iconic character of Stitch. The trailer showcases Stitch’s journey as he embraces the concept of ‘ohana’ (family) while adjusting to life in Hawaii.
Joining the cast are Zach Galifianakis as the alien scientist Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Billy Magnussen as the Earth expert Agent Pleakley, and Hannah Waddingham as the Grand Councilwoman of the United Galactic Federation. Tia Carrere, who voiced Nani in the original animated film and its spinoffs, now takes on the role of a new character, Mrs. Kekoa, in the live-action adaptation.
The young talent Maia Kealoha, who portrays Lilo, expressed her excitement at landing the role, particularly as a native of the Hawaiian islands. In an interview with PEOPLE, Kealoha shared her joy at being cast as Lilo, highlighting the emotional moment when she learned of her selection for the iconic role.
