Netflix has confirmed the renewal of its popular series ‘Selling Sunset’ for a tenth season, but the fate of its spin-off, ‘Selling the OC’, remains uncertain. While the streaming platform has not officially announced its cancellation, Alex Hall, a prominent cast member from ‘Selling the OC’, declared during a recent episode of her podcast that the spin-off will not be returning for another season, describing it as the “end of an era.”

In the June 2 episode of her podcast, ‘Pretty Dirty’, Hall reflected on her experiences during the series and the reactions to the news about its discontinuation. Titled “Alex Hall Addresses Selling OC Cancellation & Selling Sunset Rumours,” the episode featured Hall discussing her feelings about the cancellation and her personal growth as an agent during her time on the show. “Honestly, I feel like season 4 was my best season,” she shared. “I feel like I looked the best, and I kept my cool when I wanted to rip some people’s heads off. I matured.”

One of the more notable storylines from Hall’s time on ‘Selling the OC’ involved her relationship with fellow agent Tyler Stanaland, particularly following his divorce from actress Brittany Snow. As discussions about her future in the franchise continued, Hall also addressed speculation regarding her potential involvement in ‘Selling Sunset’. Following significant changes in the cast after the ninth season, Hall remarked on the buzz surrounding her joining the LA-based series.

“I feel like we should probably address the elephant in the room,” she said, acknowledging the various articles circulating about her joining ‘Selling Sunset’. However, she made it clear that “nothing’s been signed, FYI. I have not agreed to go on ‘Selling Sunset.’ This was just literally a brief conversation.” Although Netflix declined to comment on the situation, Hall’s remarks have added to the intrigue surrounding her next steps.
If Hall were to transition to ‘Selling Sunset’, she admitted it would pose a considerable challenge. She expressed her friendships with certain cast members while indicating that navigating relationships with others could be more complicated. “That’s kind of terrifying, to think about going to Sunset,” she said, mentioning her mixed relationships with the show’s current cast, including Heather Rae El Moussa, Christine Quinn, and Bre Tiesi.
The landscape of ‘Selling Sunset’ is set to shift dramatically in the upcoming season, as several key figures have already confirmed their departures from the series. Among those exiting are Nicole Young, Chrishell Stause, and Mary Bonnet, alongside speculation that Emma Hernan, Chelsea Lazkani, and season nine newcomer Sandra Vergara may also not return for season ten.
Mary Bonnet shared insight into her decision to step back from the show, stating that her decision was not due to being fired but rather a personal choice. “I’m the vice president of The Oppenheim Group, so yeah, I’m not fired,” she told PEOPLE. Her move comes as she expressed dissatisfaction with the show’s direction following season nine. “I thought it was going to be woman empowerment. I thought it was going to be a very positive thing for women and for the real estate industry, and I think it’s kind of taken a turn from that,” Bonnet said, highlighting her desire to distance herself from the show while remaining open to returning for a potential eleventh season.
As the production plans unfold, fans and followers of both shows are keenly awaiting further announcements from Netflix on the future of the franchise. The potential cast transitions will undoubtedly influence the dynamics and narratives of both series, setting the stage for fresh developments in the ever-dynamic world of real estate reality television.
With the upcoming season of ‘Selling Sunset’ already generating much speculation, all eyes remain fixed on the Oppenheim Group and the unfolding stories of its agents. Whether Hall will officially join the cast or if other cast members’ exits will significantly reshape the show’s core remains uncertain; however, the anticipation surrounding these developments is undoubtedly high.
