Tom Holland has unveiled a brand new line of non-alcoholic shandies, designed specifically with his fiancée Zendaya in mind. The actor, known for his role as Spider-Man, co-founded the non-alcoholic beer company Bero. In a recent announcement, he shared that this new product line is a personal tribute to Zendaya, who has never really enjoyed drinking beer.

Holland explained his motivation for creating the Bero Shandy in a press release dated June 1. His aim was to offer a beverage that Zendaya could appreciate, given her distaste for traditional beers. “To be honest, I created the BERO Shandy for Z,” he remarked. With this in mind, he sought to introduce something refreshing and new to appeal to her tastes.

The shandies comprise a combination of Bero’s non-alcoholic lager-style base, Kingston Golden Pils, mixed with lemonade and an array of fruity flavours. Each variety reflects moments throughout a summer day, capturing the essence of those experiences. The drinks will be available for online purchase starting June 8, with a physical presence at Target beginning on June 14.

This limited-time line includes four distinct flavours: Daybreak Shandy, Golden Hour Shandy, Sunset Shandy, and Midnight Shandy. Daybreak combines zesty lemon-lime, while Golden Hour offers a refreshing pink grapefruit taste. Sunset Shandy features elderflower and lemon notes, and Midnight manages to delight with a blend of blackberry and yuzu citrus.
Holland drew inspiration from the British custom of enjoying shandies—typically a mixture of lemonade and beer—to develop this new line. He emphasised that the creation of these drinks is intended to make Bero enjoyable for everyone, not just avid beer drinkers. The launch serves to broaden the appeal of Bero’s offerings, ensuring that consumers can experience the drinks at various times and occasions throughout the day.
According to Holland, the idea for the shandies came largely from his mother, but Zendaya’s influence truly shaped their design. He mentioned that the elderflower flavour resonates with his fond memories of his grandmother, while Zendaya’s preferred taste is the distinctive grapefruit blend. Notably, Holland joked about how he has had to steer clear of the grapefruit variety at home, given Zendaya’s affection for it.
Since embarking on his reduced-alcohol journey in January 2022, Holland launched Bero on October 15, 2024. He recently highlighted in an interview with PEOPLE his desire to create a premium non-alcoholic beverage that resonates with those seeking flavourful options without the usual alcohol content. “I wanted to build a brand that not only stands out but, most importantly, helps people to fit in,” he remarked.
Holland further emphasised how Zendaya’s aversion to beer prompted a unique testing process for the shandies: “The first round of testing she was like, ‘Wow, these are really tasty.’ I was like, ‘Well, that’s probably not a good sign,’” he mused, demonstrating that even this constructive criticism brought value to the product development.
Zendaya has consistently shown her support for Bero and has been spotted wearing merchandise from the brand, including a Bero-branded hat during a recent outing.
For those eager to get their hands on these refreshing new beverages, BERO Club members can preorder the shandies via the Bero website as of June 1, while the drinks are slated for a wider launch online on June 8. Following this, consumers can find the products on Target shelves from June 14 and at other retail locations commencing July 1.
In summary, with the introduction of Bero’s shandy line, Tom Holland not only aims to cater to his fiancée’s tastes but also to address the growing demand for quality non-alcoholic beverages, bridging the gap for consumers looking for sophisticated options that fit into their lifestyles.
