In the recent clip, the 54-year-old actor makes an entrance by stepping out of a cab, stylishly removing his sunglasses. He quips, “Did you miss me?” followed by a cheeky reminder of his past appearances: “It’s been a minute since the, uh, tasteful billboards and the few late-night episodes you may have seen.” In a humorous turn, he acknowledges that while some things change, his ability to look good on screen remains consistent. “A lot’s still the same. Still photograph well. Back to doing campaigns,” he jokes.

As the video unfolds, a doppelganger for Kim Cattrall’s Samantha saunters past, prompting Lewis to observe, “Still got a type.” The playful banter continues as he catches a piece of sushi thrown his way—a callback to a memorable confrontation with Samantha in the first “Sex and the City” movie. “I was ready this time,” he remarks, showcasing his knack for mixing nostalgia with levity. Notably, Lewis promotes Owl’s Brew’s Spiked Pop as “hard soda, done clean,” suggesting a refreshing change in his pursuits.
In a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, Lewis expressed enthusiasm about participating in the campaign after meeting the founders of Owl’s Brew, Jennie Ripps and Maria Littlefield. He found the ideas presented to be charming and engaging, making it a seamless addition to his return to social media. “They presented well and it was a really cute idea,” he recalled. “And I was planning to come back to social media anyway, and I thought this was a really fun and lovely way to participate.”
Reflecting on the campaign’s concept, Lewis called the “Sex and the City” references exciting and fun. “Look, if you can’t laugh at yourself, then you haven’t really grown,” he noted, adding that the creativity involved was impressive. The actor, however, remains busy beyond this venture; he has deeply immersed himself in his literary aspirations as he works on a large-scale fantasy book series.
Lewis is developing what he describes as a “trilogy of trilogies,” a project he has been passionately crafting for some time. “It’s a lot of world building,” he explained. He elaborated on the complexities involved in tying together the multiple story arcs, emphasising the extensive plotting required for such an ambitious undertaking. “It just took a long time for my skillsets to catch up to my tastes,” he admitted, illustrating the dedication he has towards his craft.
The journey into writing has been a long-term goal for Lewis. “I’ve always just loved stories and storytelling, and I’ve written in the background for years,” he shared. Interestingly, he noted that while he attempted similar projects in the past, he didn’t realise the extent of what he would ultimately produce. “When I started this project, I didn’t know how encompassing it was going to be,” he acknowledged.
Despite moving into new creative territories, Lewis remains fondly aware of why “Sex and the City” continues to resonate with viewers. He attributes its enduring popularity to “really good writing” and the relatable themes it explores, which provide audiences with reflection on their own lives. “It’s not just a sensational thing for a minute; it’s hitting something human,” he stated.
Additionally, he reminisced about the character of Smith Jerrod, noting that his genuine and kind nature is central to why he became a fan favourite. “He wasn’t trying to put himself above others. And he operated in a genuine space,” Lewis said. He also mentioned how he frequently hears fans quote lines from his episodes, particularly one from “The Domino Effect,” where Samantha declines to hold hands with him, showcasing the lasting impact of their relationship narrative.
As Jason Lewis continues to embrace new professional challenges, fans of “Sex and the City” can find delight in the playful references that connect his past to the present, reminding both him and his audience of the show’s timeless appeal.
