Jesse Williams, best known for his role in the long-running medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” is set to welcome his third child, marking a new chapter in his personal life. The 44-year-old actor and his partner, 33-year-old Alejandra Onieva, are excitedly preparing for the arrival of their first baby together.

The announcement came last week when Onieva took to Instagram to share the news, posting several photos that showcased her growing baby bump. In one image, she wore white striped trousers paired with a cropped sweater that revealed her midriff, elegantly highlighting her pregnancy. Another post featured the actress in a striking red minidress, accentuating her bump while posing on a picturesque beach.

The couple was recently seen out and about in Los Angeles, further confirming their joyful news. Onieva sported a striking cobalt blue ensemble, consisting of jeans and a matching jacket, complemented by a cropped tank top. Williams was casually dressed in blue jeans and a grey hoodie, appearing supportive as they walked together.
Williams already shares two children, daughter Sadie, aged 11, and son Maceo, aged 10, with his ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee. As a father of two, he has previously spoken about the challenges of balancing his professional commitments with family life. In a conversation with PEOPLE in September, while filming “Hotel Costiera” in Italy, Williams detailed the difficulties of adjusting to a time difference that required him to wake in the early hours to connect with his children back home.
“It’s not just about acting,” he explained. “It involves producing every night, reviewing dailies, and providing feedback. Sleep is crucial, and I certainly did not get much of it.” Williams described the struggle of rising at 3 a.m. to communicate with his kids, emphasising the toll it took on his rest.
Reflecting on the joy of fatherhood following the birth of his daughter, Williams expressed how difficult it was to encapsulate the experience in words. “It’s hard to describe,” he shared, noting that each day brought new discoveries and moments of happiness. “I’m just trying to piece together three solid hours of coherent communication,” he quipped, highlighting the humour often needed in parenting.
Williams and Drake-Lee’s relationship has been marred by legal battles since their separation in 2017. Following their divorce, Williams sought joint legal and physical custody of their children. However, their custody arrangement faced challenges, with allegations that Drake-Lee was limiting his access to their kids. The custody dispute was eventually resolved in 2018, resulting in a 50/50 joint custody agreement.
The former couple found themselves back in court when Williams relocated temporarily to New York City in 2022 for his role in the Broadway show “Take Me Out.” The two have continued to engage in legal proceedings regarding custody matters, reflecting ongoing complications in their co-parenting relationship.
As Williams prepares for the arrival of his new child with Onieva, he manages the complexities of parenthood with both his older children and the forthcoming addition to their family. The actor continues to balance his professional endeavours with his role as a dedicated father, underscoring the realities faced by many in the public eye.
With Onieva by his side, Williams is embracing the excitement and anticipation that accompanies welcoming a new baby, while also navigating the responsibilities of being a parent to his two children from his previous marriage. The actor’s journey into fatherhood appears to take on a fresh perspective, showcasing the joy and challenges that come with welcoming a growing family.
