A Texas art teacher has been arrested on charges of child grooming following allegations that she engaged in inappropriate communications with several students. Haley Krista Radabaugh, a 28-year-old educator at Barbara Bush Middle School in Irving, was taken into custody by the Denton Police Department on May 15 after an arrest warrant was issued by the Irving Police Department.

The circumstances surrounding Radabaugh’s arrest involve multiple claims from students who reported that she had been conducting sexualised conversations with them. According to the arrest warrant, at least three students came forward to discuss their unsettling interactions with Radabaugh. These reports also included allegations that she had offered drugs to students, raising serious concerns among school officials.

Investigators revealed that a range of sexually suggestive messages were sent by Radabaugh, including one instance where she reportedly asked a 14-year-old boy for an inappropriate photograph. In a social media message dated May 13, she allegedly proposed a trade of images, stating, “You send me a photo of you, and I’ll send you one of me.” Furthermore, Radabaugh seemed to make comments that could be perceived as flirtatious, referring to the same student by using terms like “babe” and expressing her previous interest in another student.
Another alarming aspect of the allegations involves Radabaugh reportedly sending a photo of herself that depicted her getting out of the shower. Law enforcement officials noted that while the image was not explicit, it did showcase her upper body and face, causing significant distress to the individuals involved.
Witness accounts lodged with the police suggested that one of the boys who interacted with Radabaugh felt “disgusted” by the messages and reported losing sleep over the incident. The emotional toll experienced by the students has drawn attention to the serious implications of such actions by someone in a position of authority.
In the wake of these developments, the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District confirmed that Radabaugh is under investigation. The district’s spokesperson expressed deep concern regarding the allegations and described the situation as both distressing and disheartening, while also stressing limitations on the information that could be disclosed.
Following her arrest, Radabaugh was taken to Denton County Jail and has since been released after posting a bond set at $25,000. As of the latest reports, it remains unclear whether she has retained legal counsel to represent her in this matter.
The situation has raised broader discussions about student safety and the responsibility of educators to maintain appropriate boundaries with their students. The community is left grappling with the implications of having a teacher engage in such inappropriate behaviour.
This incident serves as a reminder of the vital processes in place for reporting suspected child abuse. Those who suspect such activities are encouraged to reach out to the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline, which offers confidential support and crisis counselling.
As investigations continue, local authorities are likely to explore further implications of these allegations, both for Radabaugh and the broader educational environment at Barbara Bush Middle School. The situation underscores the importance of safeguarding children from potential harm within educational settings and ensuring that those in positions of trust adhere to their responsibilities with integrity.
