A tragic case of alleged abuse has emerged from Long Island, where a seven-year-old girl, Jor’Dynn Duncan, suffered a harrowing death attributed to severe neglect and maltreatment. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, Duncan was subjected to what has been described as “systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse” that unfolded over several months and culminated in her untimely demise in December 2025.

Prosecutors report that Jor’Dynn was found to have around 90 injuries on her body at the time of her death, stemming from untreated infections caused by sharp force injuries. The distressing circumstances surrounding her passing have led to criminal charges against three women, all connected to her father’s fiancée, Emily Kelly, who is alleged to have been her primary caregiver.
Emily Kelly, aged 50 from Bayport, had legal custody of Duncan since April 2025 after the child was placed in her care at the request of Kelly. In the wake of the child’s tragic end, which occurred on December 29, 2025, authorities have come forward with serious accusations against Kelly, along with her mother Barbara Renner, 75, and daughter Elyssa Seymore, 24.
When paramedics arrived at Kelly’s home on the day of the incident, they found Jor’Dynn in cardiac arrest. Tragically, she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. An autopsy later revealed the child had succumbed to a massive untreated infection linked to her many injuries, prompting the Suffolk County Police’s Homicide Squad to launch a thorough investigation.
Investigators uncovered extensive photographic and video evidence on Kelly’s cellphone and cloud accounts, suggesting a prolonged period of abuse. Prosecutors allege that these records document acts of restraint and physical injuries, as well as a lack of medical care for Jor’Dynn. It was also revealed that the child missed approximately 40 days of school during the first half of 2025, with Kelly reportedly fabricating excuses for her absences, attributing them to varied illnesses and even to a supposed family trip to Disney World.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney remarked, “This was not an alleged single act of violence. It was months of alleged systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse, meticulously documented.” He stressed the need for justice, stating, “No child should ever endure such horror.”
In light of the allegations, Kelly faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Her mother, Barbara Renner, has been indicted for second-degree manslaughter and endangerment, while Elyssa Seymore faces charges of unlawful imprisonment and child endangerment. All three women have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
During their arraignment before state Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins, bail was set at $5 million for Kelly, $50,000 for Renner, and $25,000 for Seymore. Queries directed at their legal representatives on the matter yielded no immediate responses.
