During the podcast episode, Kardashian reflected on her lack of prior experience with cats when she acquired Grey Kitty and Baby Kitty for her daughter, True, who is now eight years old. She also has a three-year-old son, Tatum, both of whom she shares with her ex-partner, Tristan Thompson. “I feel really, really terrible that I did go in this direction,” she admitted, highlighting the distressing impact her decisions have had on the cats.
Kardashian revealed that she had been unaware that declawing was a common procedure for cats, stating that she had “never owned cats before.” Her admission is particularly poignant, as she lamented the fact that declawing has left her pets “miserable”. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has issued a warning against such procedures, stating that they can cause significant pain and long-lasting discomfort, and describing scratching as a normal and essential behaviour for cats.
In addressing her concerns for the safety of her declawed cats, Kardashian shared that she has resorted to using Air Tags to keep track of them. “They’re not allowed to even go near a door. I’m so afraid if they get out because they have no way to defend themselves. They’ve lost their protection tools, so it makes me sad,” she elaborated. In a humorous twist, she discovered that Baby Kitty was actually mimicking Grey Kitty’s undesirable behaviour. “Grey Kitty is back to being an angel, and now I have Baby Kitty, who’s a demon right now,” Kardashian remarked.
