San Diego Mass Shooter’s Mom Reported Son and Weapons Missing Hours Before Attack, Said He Was Suicidal

In a tragic incident at the Islamic Center of San Diego, three individuals lost their lives when two young shooters opened fire on the premises. Reports have emerged indicating that the mother of one suspect had reported her son missing only hours before the shocking event unfolded.

The shooting took place on Monday, 18th May, where the attackers, aged 17 and 18, targeted the largest mosque in San Diego, which also houses a school. The victims included a security guard at the centre. Tragically, both assailants later died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

San Diego Police Department disclosed that the mother of the juvenile suspect had expressed concerns regarding her son’s mental health prior to the incident. She reached out to the authorities on the morning of the shooting, stating that not only was her son missing, but several of her firearms and her vehicle were also unaccounted for. In her distress, she explained that she believed her son was experiencing suicidal thoughts and that he was with a friend who was attired in camouflage.

In response to her report, law enforcement officials initiated a search for the duo. Officers were dispatched to a local mall where the suspect’s vehicle was seen, as well as a nearby high school. However, amidst these efforts, the horrific shooting commenced at the Islamic Center, marking a devastating chapter for the community.
