Located in Greenwich, the home, affectionately named Cedar Cliff, spans an impressive 13,163 square feet and is set on a 2.9-acre peninsula, boasting eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and five half-baths.

Having acquired the property in 1994 alongside her late husband, Frank Gifford, Gifford described the house as a remarkable blend of Mediterranean architecture and beauty. She noted that the couple immediately felt an emotional connection to Cedar Cliff, likening their experience to stepping onto the grounds of a European villa. “It was just stunning,” said the 72-year-old entertainer.

Gifford, who moved to Nashville after retiring from her long-standing role at the Today Show in 2018, cited her new focus on writing and music as a pivotal reason for the decision to sell. Reflecting on her past, she recalled the rigorous daily commute she maintained between Cedar Cliff and Midtown Manhattan for years while balancing her demanding career at NBC. “That was my regular commute, until I left the show with Regis [Philbin] in 2000,” she recalled.

The former talk-show host elaborated on her transition, highlighting her fruitful return to daytime television in 2008 alongside Hoda Kotb, a partnership that lasted a decade before she moved permanently to Tennessee. Gifford, who has recently launched her 31st book, mentioned that the house had grown quiet over the years following her children’s departures, prompting her to seek new beginnings in Nashville.

Shifting her focus from dwelling on the past, Gifford expressed the need to create new memories. She began to immerse herself in creative projects, including co-writing a screenplay with comedian Craig Ferguson and producing the soundtrack for it. Gifford confirmed that while she embraced Nashville as her new home, her fondness for Cedar Cliff remains unchanged.

When asked about her time in the beloved house, Gifford spoke with nostalgia about the exceptional views from its unique location, noting that the beauty of the sunrises and sunsets was one of the standout features. “It’s hard to choose a favourite feature,” she said. “Because of the unique position of the house on its own peninsula, I was always struck by the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.”

The star fondly recalled moments of joy spent with friends and family within the walls of Cedar Cliff. High-profile guests, including Regis Philbin, Kevin Costner, and Dolly Parton, were often entertained, creating long-lasting memories. “Playing the piano with Dolly Parton, hosting screenings in our theatre, and raising funds for our charitable causes are among my cherished recollections,” she shared.

Perhaps the most poignant reminiscence for Gifford is the time spent with Frank at a particular spot known as Praise Point, where he would watch sailboats and greet local fishermen. “Here was a man who had conquered eight halls of fame, had travelled the world many times over, and nothing compared to his home,” she said.

After years of living in the iconic house, Gifford feels ready to pass it on, even as she acknowledges the emotional weight it carries. With her children now grown and starting families of their own, Gifford and her family have come to terms with the decision. “We always knew in our hearts that we would know when it was the right time, and we would have peace about it,” she stated.

Despite the changes, Gifford remains grateful for the beautiful life she and Frank built at Cedar Cliff. As she bids farewell to the beloved home, she knows it will forever hold a special place in her heart.
