Sydney Towle, a 26-year-old influencer, has provided an update on her health following a challenging weekend spent in hospital dealing with the painful effects of cholangiocarcinoma – a rare bile duct cancer diagnosed when she was just 23 years old. In a recent TikTok video posted on 17 May 2026, Towle revealed that her condition has progressed, with cancer now affecting the peritoneum, the lining of her abdomen and pelvis.

In her video, Towle candidly documented her experience in the hospital, including the discomfort she faced while having a nasogastric (NG) tube inserted. With her mother by her side, Towle filmed moments of her recovery and provided reassurance to her nearly 943,000 followers about her health status. Although the presence of cancer in her peritoneum is concerning, she clarified that she does not have a bowel obstruction.
Despite the severity of her diagnosis, Towle remains optimistic about the next stage of her clinical trial. She reassured her audience by stating, “I know that’s not good, but I’m going to keep trudging along and keep trying to kick the can until step two of the clinical trial.” This clinical trial plays a crucial role in her fight against the disease.
Back in April, Towle had disclosed specifics about her participation in the trial, which encompasses a surgical procedure intended to collect a part of one of her tumours. This material will be sent to a laboratory, where scientists aim to isolate and cultivate immune cells over a two-month period. If successful, the process could yield an 80% chance of generating a viable treatment option to combat her cancer.
In her latest update, she also confronted some comments from users suggesting that she may be in denial about her illness. Towle dismissed these notions, acknowledging that her positive outlook in the face of hardship might create confusion for some viewers. “I am aware that these are not good signs, but I also know that it’s not over until it’s over, and I have a lot of hope and optimism left in me,” she expressed.
Throughout her ordeal, Towle has attempted to balance her journey with maintaining a sense of normalcy and connection with her friends and followers. She emphasised the importance of hope, stating, “You can do a lot of things with hope. So that’s where I’m at right now. I’m just happy to be here as always. Happy to spend time with my friends.”
The young influencer’s resilience has resonated with many, offering a glimpse into the realities of living with cancer while navigating the complexities of social media. Her unwavering courage serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges.
As Towle continues her treatment, she remains committed to sharing her journey with her audience. Her updates not only inform her followers of her medical conditions but also shed light on the emotional and psychological facets of battling cancer. Many supporters express their admiration and encouragement through comments on her posts, exemplifying the power of community in difficult times.
In sharing her story, Towle contributes significantly to the ongoing dialogue about cancer awareness and the importance of support systems for those impacted by the disease. She has proven that despite the daunting circumstances, a spirit of hope and determination can provide strength to overcome adversity.
