Country music artist Meghan Patrick has announced the cancellation of her remaining tour dates for 2026 to prioritise her health and the well-being of her unborn daughter. The decision comes after the singer has faced significant personal challenges, including a previous pregnancy loss, prompting her to reassess her priorities during this crucial time.

Patrick, aged 39, has been on her Golden Child tour since February. However, on 11 May, she revealed the cancellation of 11 scheduled performances in June and July via a heartfelt video message shared on Instagram. This revelation marks a significant shift in her journey as she prepares to welcome her first child with her husband, fellow country singer Mitchell Tenpenny.

In her statement, Patrick expressed that her immediate concern is for her health and the welfare of her baby girl. “When I found out I was pregnant, my first thought was about how this would impact my career. I felt I had to prove that I could continue without any disruptions,” she explained. Over the past few weeks, however, she has recognised the importance of being realistic about her situation. After discussions with her medical team, family, and Tenpenny, she concluded that her health and her child’s wellbeing should take precedence over her career ambitions.

Although she delivered the news with a “heavy heart,” Patrick reassured fans that she intends to reschedule her tour dates in the future. Ticket purchasers will receive refunds for the cancelled shows, as she expressed her discomfort in accepting money for performances that she feels would not meet her established standards. She stated, “I don’t want to contribute to the notion that women must sacrifice their well-being to succeed.”
The singer admitted she had scheduled most of her tour before discovering she was expecting. Increased physical demands and emotional challenges have made it essential for her to take a step back, particularly in light of her earlier miscarriage. She noted the exhaustion and anxiety that can accompany pregnancy, emphasising the need for her to recalibrate her focus on what truly matters.
“I’ve spent years pushing myself to prove my worth in this industry. However, being a dedicated mother takes precedence for me at this moment,” she added. Alongside her personal transformation, Patrick is cognizant of the economic burdens facing her fanbase and feels it would be irresponsible to take their time and money for a performance that she cannot wholly commit to.
Despite stepping back from live performances for the rest of the year, Patrick remains passionate about music and intends to continue writing. “I feel inspired creatively and believe that I’m currently crafting some of the best songs of my life,” she shared, assuring fans that her absence from the stage does not equate to giving up but rather adapting her approach for the sake of her family and artistic integrity.
Patrick has a busy schedule ahead, as she will still be performing her shows on 15 May and 23 May but has decided to withdraw from touring activities thereafter. She expressed gratitude towards her fans for their enduring support and commitment, indicating that she will return to the stage when the time is right. “It will be worth the wait,” she promised.
The announcement of her pregnancy came in March, accompanied by a touching video revealing the news to Tenpenny, who is 36. The couple, who married in 2022, previously faced difficulties in trying to conceive. Tenpenny has spoken candidly about their experiences, reflecting on their journey to parenthood and the emotional complexities involved.
As Meghan Patrick takes this time to focus on her family and health, her candid approach to discussing the pressures faced by women in the music industry resonates deeply. The singer aims to challenge the stereotype that women must compromise their wellbeing for professional success, embodying a nurturing spirit as she prepares for motherhood while remaining dedicated to her craft.
