In the Mitsubishi, the driver’s 11-year-old daughter was a passenger who was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, police later confirmed that her condition stabilised and she is now recovering.

Gold Coast District Assistant Officer Superintendent Brett Jackson provided insights into the ongoing investigation, suggesting that early findings indicate the involvement of a 19-year-old driver who may have accidentally veered onto the wrong side of the road, resulting in the fatal collision. “That caused the collision. It was a traumatic scene for motorists and nearby residents, as well as emergency services,” said Jackson. “This lady was a mother. Our thoughts are with her family.”
