Reflecting on their journey, the couple spoke candidly about the emotional rollercoaster they experienced over more than a year of trying to conceive. “We faced difficulties when trying to conceive our second child, which led us to discover that we were dealing with secondary infertility,” they shared. The couple had always envisioned a large family, so the struggle was particularly heart-wrenching.
In their pursuit of expanding their family, Seth and Tori made the decision to undergo in vitro fertilisation (IVF). “After much prayer and discussion, we felt guided to seek IVF,” they explained. “We believe in miracles and the importance of the resources and wisdom available to help in such situations.”
The IVF journey proved to be both daunting and rewarding. Tori, who described herself as more holistically inclined regarding health, found the medical procedures particularly challenging. “I’ve always had a fear of needles, so the daily injections for weeks required me to confront my fears head on,” she admitted. Despite the challenges, the couple remained focused on their shared dream of motherhood and fatherhood, which provided them the strength to persevere.
After the transfer day, the couple faced an anxious wait of nine days to learn the results of their IVF treatment. The moment they received confirmation of their pregnancy was filled with overwhelming emotions. “When we got the news that we were pregnant, it was like an immense wave of gratitude and relief washed over us,” they recalled. “We know that God guided us throughout this experience, but we are also aware that not all couples receive such happy news, leaving us with a deep empathy for those still on this journey.”
Their daughter Amma is eagerly anticipating the new addition to the family and is brimming with excitement at the prospect of becoming an older sister. “We can’t wait to have her join us in this next phase as a family of four,” Seth noted, adding that it will be a particularly special holiday season this year.
Sharing their news with relatives added to the joy of the occasion. “We called both sets of parents via FaceTime and had Amma reveal the positive pregnancy test,” they recounted. “The reactions were priceless—there were tears of happiness, disbelief, and a resounding ‘Wait… is this real?!’ It’s a moment we will treasure forever.”
As they prepare for their second child, Seth’s departure from his band NEEDTOBREATHE is part of a broader intention to invest time in family life. Tori explained, “A big reason Seth stepped back from touring was to cultivate this season differently, ensuring he could be present for his family. During Amma’s early days, he realised how fleeting those moments could be.”
The couple’s vision for their family has always been important, and they hope to instil values centred around connection and presence. “What we’re building at BOLT FARM embodies more than just hospitality; it’s about nurturing relationships and creating substantial memories,” Tori stated. She emphasised that this season is aligned with their aspirations of raising children in a loving, nature-oriented environment.
At this stage, Amma is taking her role as an older sister quite seriously, frequently discussing the baby and wanting to help in every possible way. “It’s clear that she will be an incredibly loving big sister,” they observed. “We are confident that this new baby will be surrounded by love from both us and Amma.”
