Ken Jennings, the popular host of ‘Jeopardy!’, recently opened up about his family life during a red-carpet event at the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood. Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Jennings shared that he is currently on a mission to visit every Major League Baseball (MLB) stadium alongside his son, Dylan. This father-son adventure reflects the special bond they share and their mutual love for trivia, a passion that both have in varying degrees.

At 51 years of age, Jennings is genuinely enthusiastic about this shared endeavour, stating, “I’m trying to see all the Major League ballparks with my son.” He explained how this project is not just a leisurely activity for them but also an opportunity for him to learn more about the various stadiums. “A lot of these are places I’ve never been, and so now I’m like, ‘Hey, I have trivia about Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. I know about the fountains and the waterfalls now,’” he added, indicating the depth of knowledge he has gained from the experience.

Jennings noted with a hint of humour that his growing collection of baseball park trivia is happening at what he terms an “alarming rate.” This lively exchange of knowledge seems to be a fitting activity for a former ‘Jeopardy!’ champion, who has famously thrived on quizzes and trivia challenges throughout his life.
In addition to Dylan, born in 2002, Jennings is also a proud parent to his daughter Caitlin, born in 2006. Both children are products of his marriage to Mindy Jennings, and while Ken typically keeps his family life private, he occasionally gives glimpses into their activities. For instance, a post he shared on social media in 2022 showcased a memorable outing with Dylan at an MLB game, highlighting both their enjoyment and a sense of nostalgia for Ken, who reflected on the long wait for his son to witness their team, the Seattle Mariners, reach the playoffs.
While Dylan appears to share a flair for trivia like his father, Jennings remarked that his son does not aspire to compete in the trivia arena that is ‘Jeopardy!’ “He doesn’t want to compete in his dad’s domain, and that’s fine by me,” Jennings said, exemplifying his supportive perspective on his children’s individual interests and paths.
Reflecting on parenting, Jennings previously expressed in an interview with Yahoo! Life that the journey of raising children is “always a moving target.” He emphasised the importance of adaptability, stating that understanding the evolving needs of a child can be quite the challenge. “You’re really just responding to the current needs of the kid, which might be different than six months ago,” he explained.
The seasoned quizmaster also shared that the most surprising aspect of parenthood for him has been the constant evolution of interests and behaviours in children. “People tend to remember their childhood as a constant, steady state,” he observed, yet from a parent’s perspective, it becomes clear that there are new phases and quirks emerging frequently. “It’s eye-opening how your own perception of childhood maybe isn’t that accurate,” he concluded.
As Jennings continues to navigate this dynamic journey of parenthood, his experiences certainly underscore the joys and challenges that come with raising teenagers in an ever-changing world. The special outings with Dylan not only strengthen their bond but also serve as treasured moments for both father and son, filled with learning, laughter, and the spirit of exploration.
