On May 6, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the search took place at the family home located on East Branch Street in Arroyo Grande. Paul Flores was convicted of first-degree murder in 2022 for his role in Smart’s disappearance, but despite the conviction, her remains have yet to be located.
The sheriff’s statement announced that the search was targeted explicitly at gathering evidence related to the Kristin Smart case. “This investigation is related to the Kristin Smart disappearance,” the press release stated. “The activity is the result of a search warrant signed by a Superior Court judge. The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to bringing Kristin home to her family.”
