In her candid post, Hartnett recounted the trajectory of her experiences, beginning with the disastrous outcome of her first surgery, which resulted in a collapse of one of her nostrils. Hartnett has stated that she often receives messages from her followers inquiring about her nose, prompting her to open up about the painful reality behind her cosmetic surgeries.

“Choosing to undergo elective surgery is not a decision that should ever be taken lightly and I’ve learned that the hard way,” she reflected, emphasising the necessity of careful consideration before proceeding with such procedures. She pointed out the tangible risks involved, which she unfortunately learned from her own distressing experiences.
Hartnett explained that despite considering a well-known surgeon from social media, she ended up facing significant complications. The aftermath of the first surgery left her struggling to breathe and left her nose asymmetrical. Following this experience, she attempted to seek a refund, but was offered only a fraction of her initial payment, with stipulations that she sign a non-disclosure agreement.
In following her path to recovery, Hartnett underwent a revision surgery that turned into an extensive six-hour procedure. During this operation, her second surgeon revealed the extensive damage caused by the earlier surgery, describing her nose as being comprised largely of scar tissue. “You can see from the swelling and the recovery how rough the first surgeon must have been,” she noted, highlighting the challenges faced during her healing process.
Although the revision surgery allowed her to breathe normally again, trouble arose when she developed an infection shortly thereafter. Hartnett shared her frustration, explaining that the infection had effectively nullified the benefits of her previous surgery. This led to further complications, including visible dents in her nose and the structure being pulled in multiple directions.
Despite these setbacks, Hartnett praised her subsequent surgeon for their exemplary care and rapid response to her complications. He not only offered her a full refund but also referred her to another specialist who could assist with her future surgery. This shift marked a turning point in Hartnett’s ordeal.
The third surgery took place in Turkey, conducted by Dr Abdülkadir Göksel, who is known for handling complex revision cases. Hartnett described how Dr. Göksel managed to reconstruct her nose by removing damaged tissue and using a rib graft, combined with additional tissue from her lip. “I went into this surgery with realistic expectations… I just wanted something stable, functional, and natural,” she stated. To her relief, the outcome exceeded her hopes.
Now, four months post-surgery, Hartnett reports feeling more like herself than she has in years. However, she expressed a strong desire to prevent others from experiencing what she did. “If I could go back and never have that first surgery, I would… but I can’t,” she admitted, before stressing the importance of understanding the risks associated with cosmetic surgery.
Hartnett concluded her message with a heartfelt reminder to her followers that, “The risks of surgery are very real. You never think it will happen to you, I didn’t. But it did. And it cost me three years of my life that I’ll never get back.” Her story stands as a cautionary tale, highlighting the often unspoken challenges and potential complications in the pursuit of cosmetic enhancements.
