An easyJet flight heading from London to Antalya was diverted to Kosovo on Wednesday, April 29, following unruly behaviour by two passengers. The airline confirmed that the flight, designated EZY8559, encountered severe disruption due to the actions of a man and a woman aboard the aircraft.

Witness accounts suggest that the unruly pair, reportedly intoxicated, met during the flight and began flirting after discovering they were both from Kent, England. Their behaviour soon escalated from playful banter to alarming misconduct, with passengers describing the situation as “terrifying.”

As the woman allegedly spat at fellow passengers and the man boasted about his previous jail time, other travellers became increasingly alarmed. One bystander remarked that the couple was shouting and swearing, which created an atmosphere of fear within the cabin. Another passenger, keen to capture evidence of the incident, decided to film the disruption as chaos unfolded around them.
In an official statement, easyJet expressed its commitment to passenger safety, asserting: “Our cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time. We take these incidents seriously and do not tolerate disruptive behaviour onboard.” The airline reaffirmed that ensuring the well-being of its customers and crew is always a primary concern.
Upon landing at Pristina International Airport, the aircraft was met by local law enforcement, who escorted the unruly passengers from the plane. It was reported that, amid the chaos, an announcement was made urging all passengers to remain calm as the flight prepared for its landing.
Video footage later obtained by sources depicted the woman lunging across the aisle towards another passenger. A male flight attendant could be seen trying to de-escalate the situation while managing the commotion among the passengers.
Reflecting on the incident, one witness mentioned, “I was sitting behind them and minding my own business when suddenly I heard screeches and the commotion. I looked up and was in disbelief about what was going on. It was all a bit mental.” A palpable sense of helplessness swept through the cabin as the situation intensified, with many passengers feeling sorry for the crew tasked with managing the disruption.
The flight eventually continued its journey to Antalya, arriving approximately three hours later than scheduled. The prompt actions of the easyJet crew and law enforcement ensured that the situation did not escalate further and allowed other passengers to reach their destination safely.
Following the incident, a representative from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed they are liaising with local authorities in Kosovo. This response highlights the serious nature of the situation and the need for further communication regarding any potential repercussions for the individuals involved.
EasyJet continues to prioritise passenger safety and has reiterated that they will enforce strict policies against disruptive behaviour in the future, ensuring all individuals can travel without fear of disturbance or danger.
