The Amarillo Pickleball Club identified the deceased as Seren Wilson, Brooke Skypala, Stacy Hedrick, Glen Appling, and Hayden Dillard. In a statement, the organisation expressed its grief, describing the victims as integral members of their ‘pickleball family’. They urged community members to remember the lives lost and provided information on how to assist the victims’ families in the coming days.
According to reports from Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra, emergency services were alerted shortly after 11:05 p.m. local time, following calls regarding a downed aircraft. First responders arrived promptly but unfortunately confirmed that all five individuals aboard had perished in the incident.

Initial reports suggest that the Cessna 421C was flying at a considerable speed when it crashed. Investigating authorities have indicated that there is no evidence of a mid-air collision. Notably, a second aircraft in the vicinity managed to land safely in New Braunfels during the same time frame, further ruling out external factors in the tragedy.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been informed and will spearhead the investigation to determine what caused the aircraft to crash. This inquiry is ongoing, with officials working diligently to gather information and piece together the timeline of events leading up to the fatal accident.
As the investigation unfolds, Sgt. Billy Ray from the Texas Department of Public Safety commented that the identities of the crash victims were initially withheld pending notifications to their next of kin. He emphasised the seriousness of the investigation, indicating that all leads would be thoroughly explored.

Flight data indicated that the aircraft had taken off from Amarillo, approximately two hours before the tragic incident, with its destination set for New Braunfels National Airport. Details concerning the flight path and operational conditions are likely to be scrutinised as part of the ongoing investigation.
Nearby residents reported hearing a loud noise at the time of the crash, with one individual describing the experience as unsettling. “It shook when it landed,” she recounted, saying it felt like nothing she had ever heard or felt before. Such accounts contribute to the community’s shared shock and grief over the loss of their fellow residents.
As the Amarillo Pickleball Club and the broader community mourn this devastating loss, they also are rallying support for the affected families, showcasing the togetherness and resilience expected in the face of such an unforeseen tragedy.
