The owner of the iconic Brady Bunch house, Tina Trahan, has revealed the meticulous details behind her efforts to transform the residence into an authentic reflection of the beloved television series. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, she shared her passion for recreating the home’s interiors to match the appearance portrayed in the classic sitcom.

Tina Trahan, who acquired the famous house from HGTV, explained that the renovation process was just the beginning of her ambitious project. Prior to her purchase, the property underwent significant updates, which served as a foundation for what would become a true labour of love for Trahan. However, her vision was to take the renovations to the next level; “I added hundreds and hundreds of pieces from episodes,” she stated, describing how she enveloped the home in nostalgia.

The goal for Trahan was clear: she wanted visitors to feel as though they were stepping directly into an episode of The Brady Bunch. “When people come in, they see items that they remember from the shows and remind them of the episodes,” she articulated. This focus on detail has transformed the property into an immersive experience, where fans can relive their favourite moments from the series.
Creating this one-of-a-kind atmosphere, however, has been no small feat. Trahan acknowledged that it took “years” to personalise the home and admitted, “By the way, I’m still not done.” Her quest for perfection continues, as she actively searches for original furnishings and decor that reflect the distinctive style of the 1960s setting.
Among the challenges she faces in her restoration is the quest for authentic items. Trahan mentioned her struggle to find the precise outdoor dining chairs, stating, “The chairs they had are not the same chairs, but they’re similar … I need four and they have to be in great condition, but they have to be from the ’60s.” Such requirements demonstrate her unwavering commitment to authenticity, as she endeavours to ensure that each piece resonates with the era depicted in the show.
Moreover, Trahan’s journey involved solving puzzles related to some of the set’s more obscure elements. She recalled a particularly baffling detail concerning a blue ram statue located at the bottom of the stairs. Initially uncertain whether it was a cat, a dog, or something else entirely, Trahan eventually uncovered that it was, in fact, a ram, but locating this specific item took considerable time and effort.
This level of dedication to detail not only serves to honour the legacy of The Brady Bunch but also aims to enhance the experience for fans. Trahan’s efforts culminate in what will be known as The Brady Bunch Experience, a unique exhibition where attendees can immerse themselves in a recreated version of the show’s set within the actual home. This experience will be available for public visits from May 11 to June 12.
The project has allowed Trahan to connect with fellow fans of The Brady Bunch while bringing joy to countless others who have loved the show over the decades. As she continues her quest for the perfect finishing touches, it is clear that her passion for the series runs deep.
With each addition, Tina Trahan not only preserves the legacy of The Brady Bunch but also creates a space where memories can be made and cherished. As visitors step through the doors of the iconic house, they can relish the nostalgia and experience the warmth of a family that captured the hearts of audiences for generations.
