Teddi Mellencamp, known for her role on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” has taken to social media to seek advice from her followers on dealing with her newly growing hair during her ongoing battle with cancer. Recently, she posted a heartfelt video on Instagram, sharing her experience as she transitions away from wearing wigs, which she has relied on during her treatment.

The 44-year-old reality star has been open about her health challenges since she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer, in 2022. Following her initial diagnosis, Mellencamp underwent a staggering 17 surgical procedures to combat the disease. However, her journey took a critical turn in April 2025 when doctors discovered that cancer had spread to her brain and lungs, leading to a stage 4 classification.

In her recent Instagram video, Mellencamp expressed a mix of relief and frustration as her hair begins to grow back after her surgeries. “You guys have been so much help in giving me amazing referrals for great wigs that I’ve been using for the past however many months,” she remarked, before posing the question her fans were undoubtedly curious about: “now what?” She candidly admitted, “The hair is too long for the wigs and I’m sick of the wigs, but like, what are we supposed to do here?”
Mellencamp also shared a poignant photograph showcasing her shaved head and the scars resulting from her surgeries. Accompanying the image, she noted the irony of her current hairstyle resembling that of her 11-year-old son, Cruz. She humorously reflected, “It’s not lost on me how much my hair has grown since the brain surgeries. However, I currently have the same hairstyle as Cruz and I don’t have nearly enough ‘rizz’ for that.”
Despite the numerous challenges posed by her illness, there have been glimmers of hope in Mellencamp’s health journey. She announced in October 2025 that medical professionals had found “no trace of cancer,” a significant milestone in her fight against the disease. However, she continues to undergo immunotherapy, and while she expressed optimism, she clarified that she was not yet in remission.
In the months leading to her positive update, Mellencamp had been candid about her health struggles. She explained the necessary timeline for cancer recovery, stating, “The way the [doctors] said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years you’re allowed to be considered … in remission.” This information provided her followers with a sense of assurance while emphasising the seriousness of her condition.
In March, during an appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, Mellencamp shared that she was “actually doing well” and noted that “things are moving along nicely.” Her positive attitude and resilience have resonated with many, serving as a source of inspiration for her followers and those experiencing similar battles.
As she embarks on this new phase of her health journey, Mellencamp’s engagement with her fans reflects both her vulnerability and strength. Her candid discussions on social media have fostered a supportive community, as others share their own experiences and tips, illustrating the bond formed in times of adversity.
Ultimately, Teddi Mellencamp’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of hope, community, and resilience in the face of life’s most challenging moments. As she continues her fight against cancer, her journey resonates beyond personal experience, bridging connections with many who navigate similar paths.
