Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, well-known from her reality television fame, is on the cusp of completing her academic journey in Colorado, where she has been studying to become a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) nurse. As she approaches graduation next year, her mother, June Shannon, affectionately known as Mama June, has shared encouraging updates about Alana’s progress and future plans.

In an interview with PEOPLE on April 29, during the AMC Global Media 2026 Upfront event, Mama June expressed her pride in her daughter. “She is in Denver. She’s been out there. She’s following her dreams of being a PICU nurse,” Shannon explained. Adding to the excitement, she revealed that Alana is currently employed at a hospital in Denver and is set to graduate in 2025.
Although specific plans for Alana’s graduation celebration remain unfinalised, Mama June did mention upcoming festivities for Alana’s 21st birthday, which falls in August. “We have nothing planned for graduation, but Alana turns 21 in August,” she noted, teasing a potential celebration in Las Vegas for the milestone occasion.
Alana is the youngest of Mama June’s four daughters, which also include Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efrid, and Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell. Tragically, Anna passed away on December 9, 2023, following a battle with adrenal carcinoma. The family has faced significant challenges, but Mama June continues to express her unwavering support for Alana’s aspirations.
Recently, Alana faced a frightening incident when she was involved in a car accident in September. According to Mama June, while Alana was exiting her driveway in Denver, another vehicle collided with her, resulting in a T-bone accident. “Somebody actually wasn’t paying attention and T-boned her on her road,” Mama June recounted in an Instagram post. Fortunately, she emphasised that Alana emerged relatively unscathed from the ordeal.
While discussing the accident, Mama June described the other driver, a 23-year-old man, who reportedly admitted to speeding and losing focus. “But anyway, with that being said, Alana is fine,” she reassured followers, despite Alana experiencing some back pain and headaches in the aftermath of the crash. Mama June indicated the family’s intention to assist Alana, stating, “We are headed to Denver to be able to get her a rental car and to get her set.”
