At approximately 10:50 a.m. local time, the injured hiker made an urgent call to emergency services for assistance. Responding to the call, the Boise County Search and Rescue team, along with the East Boise County EMS, encountered a challenging situation as access to the trail was blocked by a locked gate.

In a commendable display of resourcefulness, members of the search and rescue team utilised a dirt bike to bypass the locked gate. This allowed them to quickly traverse the rugged terrain and reach the injured man. Upon locating him, emergency responders acted promptly to assess his injuries and stabilise his condition.
Once the hiker’s leg was secured, the team worked collaboratively to transport an emergency medical technician (EMT) from the awaiting ambulance to the scene using a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV). The crew’s effort ensured that the hiker received the necessary medical attention as rapidly as possible.
After stabilising the injured man, the team successfully escorted him back to the trailhead, where the ambulance was prepared to take him to a nearby medical facility in Boise. The quick actions of the responders undoubtedly contributed to the hiker’s immediate care and subsequent recovery.
A total of four EMTs from Boise County Search and Rescue were engaged in the operations, showcasing the dedicated services available to those who venture into the area’s vast outdoor landscapes. The agency expressed its gratitude, stating, “Thank you to all the volunteers that responded to this call. This is what we do!”
