Reflecting on the past few years, Milans shares that her life has taken a remarkable turn since Gigi’s arrival. “I can’t believe how time is flying by and how fast she is growing,” Milans told PEOPLE. Each day brings new discoveries for both mother and daughter, deepening their bond and enhancing Milans’ perspective on life.
For Milans, motherhood has been nothing short of a revelation. “It is, without a doubt, the most incredible thing that has happened in my life,” she remarked, expressing how the experience of nurturing her child has filled her with immense joy. She went on to say, “Looking at her little face and knowing I grew her inside my body makes my heart explode every time.” This profound connection has shifted her priorities, making her truly appreciate what is most important in life: family, health, and happiness.

The actress describes her journey into motherhood as a grounding experience. “It centres you profoundly as a human being, making you realise what truly matters in life,” she explained. Milans noted that career achievements pale in comparison to the role she plays in her child’s life, saying, “It changed every perspective for me. To see everything through my daughter’s eyes is so humbling and beautiful.”

However, the transition into motherhood was not free from challenges. Milans faced significant upheaval shortly after Gigi’s birth when she had to evacuate her home during the devastating Los Angeles fires in January 2025. Navigating postpartum life amidst such chaos proved to be demanding but also revealing. “I had just finished directing my first film, and then I got this incredible job four months postpartum after having evacuated my home in Malibu,” she recounted.
In the midst of settling into her new role as a mother, Milans had to relocate from Los Angeles to Miami for her work, all while juggling the responsibilities of breastfeeding. “It was insane,” she said, sharing how she had to adapt to the demands of work while still caring for her newborn. Her dedication to both her profession and family underscored a newfound sense of empowerment. “You feel like a superhero. That’s what mothers are,” she asserted.
Through the myriad adjustments postpartum, Milans expressed gratitude for the strong support system surrounding her. She praised her husband, saying he has been an incredible pillar of strength throughout their journey into parenthood. “My husband has been my rock during this whole journey, holding space for me with so much grace and patience,” she explained. Her appreciation extends beyond her immediate family, acknowledging friends who have supported her during this transitional period.
Milans also addressed the often isolating experience of undergoing In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), through which she welcomed Gigi. She emphasized the importance of camaraderie among women on similar journeys, stating, “Having a sense of community and belonging is crucial, especially with something like IVF.” She underscored the need to reach out to others facing similar trials, wishing for a sense of connection she felt was missing during her own process.
Looking ahead, Milans has not completely ruled out the possibility of adding to her family. While she would embrace the blessing of another child, she also cherishes what she already has. “It would be a blessing to give Gigi a sibling, and if God sends that our way, I will certainly welcome it,” she said. For now, Milans feels content and fully appreciative of her current circumstances, stating, “I am counting my blessings already and could not ask for more than what I already have.”
In sharing her story, Marta Milans offers a candid glimpse into the realities of motherhood—the highs, the lows, and the passion that drives her as both a parent and an actress. As she prepares for the premiere of M.I.A. on May 7, she carries not only her professional ambitions but also the profound love and responsibility that comes with being a mother.
