“Baywatch” Alum David Charvet Will Not Face Charges After Hitting Neighbor’s Dog in Malibu: Sheriff

David Charvet, the former ‘Baywatch’ star, will not be facing any charges following allegations of accidentally hitting a neighbour’s dog whilst driving in Malibu. According to representatives for the actor, authorities have concluded that the incident was indeed an accident, leading to no criminal charges being filed against him.

On April 16, the 53-year-old actor was involved in an incident during which a dog was struck by his vehicle. A spokesperson for Charvet declared that he has faced significant online backlash, culminating in death threats, and expressed a desire to set the record straight regarding the circumstances surrounding the event. “He intends to correct the lies communicated on this incident and protect his reputation and safety,” the spokesperson remarked.

The representative noted that Charvet aims to raise awareness about pet safety and the prevention of animal cruelty in the wake of this incident. They indicated that video and photographic evidence would demonstrate that the dog’s owner was allegedly in violation of local laws by allowing her pets to roam off-leash in an area that could lead to such accidents.

The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station previously assessed the situation, stating that preliminary findings indicated the dogs had been off-leash and unwittingly ran into the road as Charvet approached. Furthermore, authorities reported that Charvet made an effort to avoid the animals in the moments leading up to the collision.

Vera Errico, the dog’s owner, who claimed to have been walking her three dogs on leashes at the time of the incident, alleged that Charvet hit one of them with his pickup truck and subsequently exited the gated community. Errico revealed to TMZ that her pet—a white English Labrador named Sunday—was taken to the veterinarian but ultimately had to be euthanised.

Though Errico indicated that a report had been filed with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office regarding a supposed “hit and run,” a law enforcement source reportedly clarified to TMZ that authorities do not view the incident in that light, as Charvet had contacted the police soon after the event.

Charvet’s representative previously emphasised the actor’s commitment to animal welfare, stating, “He is an animal lover and responsible dog owner who would never intentionally harm an animal.” The spokesperson also expressed Charvet’s condolences to Errico and her family for their loss.

The actor, best known for his role as Matt Brody in the original ‘Baywatch’ series from 1992 to 1996, has since transitioned from acting to construction. In 2008, he co-founded Jones Builders Group, where he focuses on developing luxury residences in the Los Angeles area. Throughout his career, he has also appeared in notable television series such as ‘Melrose Place’.
