In a recent appearance on Good Morning America, Paige Shiver spoke candidly about her tumultuous relationship with former University of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, which ultimately led to his termination from the university. Shiver revealed that the pairing, which she described as “inappropriate,” continued for several years and eventually resulted in a complicated personal circumstance that turned her life upside down.

During the interview with Linsey Davis, Shiver discussed her painful experience of becoming pregnant while involved with Moore, who was married at the time. Tragically, the pregnancy was severely complicated by Pompe disease – a rare genetic disorder that can cause significant muscle weakness and various heart-related issues. This diagnosis led to a heart-wrenching decision, as doctors advised Shiver to terminate the pregnancy for her own health.
Shiver, visibly emotional during her appearance, explained the gravity of the situation. “Multiple doctors and experts told me that it wouldn’t be right or healthy for me to keep the baby,” she recounted, her voice trembling. When asked whether she wished to carry the pregnancy to term, her regret was palpable as she admitted, “Yeah.” Shiver also revealed that Moore was aware of her difficult circumstances and encouraged her to prioritise her health over the pregnancy, saying, “You have to do what’s right for your body.”
Reflecting on her relationship with Moore, Shiver expressed regret for her past feelings. Initially believing she was in love, she now sees things through a more critical lens. “Back then, I did, but obviously looking back and really reflecting on what happened, that’s not love at all,” she remarked. Their relationship began when she served as an intern in 2022 and soon evolved into a more significant role when she was promoted to his executive assistant in 2024, coinciding with his ascendance to head coach.
The situation escalated dramatically when Shiver ultimately reported Moore to the University of Michigan, culminating in his dismissal on 10 December 2025. This date marked a significant turning point; on that same day, Moore was accused of driving to Shiver’s home and threatening to self-harm, an incident that left Shiver fearing for her safety.
“I heard footsteps getting closer and louder, so I ran to my door to try to lock it,” she described, detailing how Moore forced his way into her home. “He barges in and he’s standing this close to me and he said, ‘You ruined my life, why would you do this to me?’” The confrontation intensified, leading Shiver to back away in alarm as he loomed over her, visibly distressed.
This alarming incident resulted in legal consequences for Moore. Following his arrest, he was sentenced to probation on 14 April after pleading no contest to two misdemeanours. The judge determined that incarceration was not warranted but warned that any breach of the probation terms would lead to stricter repercussions. Moore was also ordered to pay a fine of £1,000.
Commenting on the outcome of the case, Shiver expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “I think he should have gotten more punishment for what he did.” Her attorneys voiced similar sentiments, arguing that the sentencing did not adequately reflect the seriousness of Moore’s actions during the December incident, which they characterised as an unlawful entry and aggressive attack.
In a statement to ABC News, Moore’s attorney, Ellen Michaels, claimed that Sherrone Moore is ready to move forward from this chapter in his life. As the dust settles on these distressing events, both Shiver and Moore’s futures remain uncertain, marred by the implications of their past choices and the legal consequences that followed.
