In a heartwarming rescue effort, a pink-haired poodle named Molly was saved by two teams of first responders after a daring adventure that involved a swim in freezing river waters. The Garfield Police Department in New Jersey found themselves in a chase they hadn’t quite anticipated when Molly, sporting a bubblegum pink coat, managed to break free from her home.

The dramatic events unfolded when a concerned citizen alerted the police about Molly’s escapade on the morning of Monday, March 3rd. The police promptly sprang into action, sharing images of the distinctive poodle on social media to rally community assistance in the search. With the help of a eagle-eyed “good Samaritan,” Molly was spotted near the Passaic River, setting the stage for her rescue mission.

Sergeant Mariggi Lopez-Houck, Officer Noah Murphy, and Officer Benjamin Marceca were among the brave responders who joined the pursuit of Molly. Despite her colourful advantage, Molly proved to be a slippery target, outmaneuvering the officers and even taking a dip in the chilly river to evade capture. With skill and determination, the teams finally managed to track Molly down to a small island near Dundee Lake, where she sought refuge.

The ensuing rescue operation became a joint effort between the police and the Garfield Fire Department. After a tense chase lasting nearly two hours, Molly was safely retrieved from her island sanctuary, cold but unharmed. Once in the care of Clifton Animal Control, Molly was joyfully reunited with her owner on the Garfield side of the riverbank.
